Ref the pics, the tiny ears look completely wrong, in my opinion, out of proportion, perhaps it has to do with all the other factors (face, muzzle etc) but to me it just does not look right. Made me think more of a lion , (may sound daft....) http://www.shoarns.com/LionGallery.html
They are too far apart yes, had I more time and my own computer I would have played a bit more to get them in the right position but it does show that it can alter a dogs appearance quite considerably! Becky
Yes i see where you are coming from Becky, how about taking one of the pics from the wolf lookalike thread and photo shop its ears? I think then people will have a better understanding of what you are trying to put across.
Hi, I've not had tiem to read this whole thread yet but someone mentioned GSDs having amber eye. I ahve 2 purebred GSDs. My youngest is black and very pale yellow with incredibly dark brown eyes. My older GSD is black and tan (the tan being quite dark inplaces) and has incredibly light, amber eyes. In fact, most people who notice his say they either love them to bits or don't like them at all. My brother thinks the light colour on such a drk dog makes him look "spooky". But yes, there are all colours of GSDs with light eyes. I agree that it's more often seen in those with lighter oats but my 2 prove that's not always the case. Laura xx
What about a shiba for ears, hypothetically, would be easier to breed out the smaller size and curly tail? Not that I know anything about it, just joining in, lol!
Thanks laura, I think most GSDs that I have seen have Amber eyes, but have seen them on the net with lighter eyes, I quite like the lighter eyes myself xxxxxx
When I said this it was ref to the last pic tazer put on, not you ww The reason I asked you if the wolves you put on and not tazer, is cos tazer put on what the wolves were, and you didn't thats why I asked it was nothing more than that Hi Sorry to drag this up again, but it has been bugging me what went wrong and why things got a bit heated between me and ww. I have gone through the last few pages to try to see what happened. I have put in bold above, I was not having a go ww just putting across what I was seeing. And because I was at the time talking about the Mexican wolf, that is where my head was.
It doesn't make it look easy at all and several times it's been mentioned about the moral and ethical responsibility of having to produce such a large number of puppies in order to get anywhere near to creating a breed. I think it would be easier if you were creating a breed that is of a similar type to the parent breeds but again the moral responsibility has to be looked at. However, you are not going to stop people doing this, they have done it for centuries, rightly or wrongly, and they will continue to do so. Wolf dogs/labradoodles/anything a poos/staffie crosses they have been around for decades and will no doubt be around for decades more. All we can do is educate people and make those that want to breed them think about what they are doing and those that want to buy them make sure they go in with their eyes open. Becky
