But if he is a responsible breeder of Sarloos surely he would want to keep the breed pure. Its like saying 'oh I like the GSD but too headstrong for me so I will cross it with a lab' . And then selling the pups at £750, it just doesn't seem right to me.

thats what people do to create new breeds.
it doesnt take anything away from the saarloos, there will always be pure saarloos as long as people breed them. same as any breed of dog.
    noone is complaining about labradoodles.
infact charlie is possibly making less money than people who are croosing labs and poodles.

I think you'll find that most of those raising questions about wolf-lookalike dogs are just as questioning about labradoodles and any other cross bred for money.
For some of us (those with northern breeds), the wolf-lookalike situation is more immediate as there is a real danger that any disasters would rebound on our breeds as well.

But they are not trying to make a new breed!!!! They are just producing F1 crosses and selling them . . . . I don't agree with labradoodles for the same reason, well that and the claims they make about them.

Ohhh right you are another of the bandwagon jumpers to see that program and decide that all pedigree dogs are unhealthy just due to a few BAD breeders!

    Or Cry Wolf

    Thats what I do too!

People don't need to be creating new breeds though!! there are enough!!!!
Yes I complain about labradoodles..and all the other stupid named crossed bred for money..

    Hi Mick.
I agree completely that there are people in the breeding world who see their animals that way. My point was, that, that view sadly isn't just in the breeding world, that its not just limited to breeders. I'm sure, although I've had no experience of this, that they're rogue dogtrainers, vets and boarding kennels, and that they're uncommon. I think that, the vast majority of breeders do right by their dogs, and that it is the few bad ones that have all the focus put on them.

Maybe, the reason why some people feel that a lot of breeders are out to make money to the detroment of their dogs, is, because that is unfortunately the image that is most portrayed in the news and on tv, as apposed to any other rogues in the animal industry I've mentioned.

But surely you cannot know this....there is less likely hood of the Saarloos X being shy - but nothing can be for sure?

ETA - I have been involved in several debates about other X's as well. I'm afraid I don't agree with them - especially the number of 'oodles that are appearing.

Czechoslovakian wolfdog is CsV or CWD. When I talked of CW, I was referring to Cry Wolf.

Crywolf Hybrid Sarloos litter born 28th July 2008. Mum is an inkspot northern inuit called Laska. Does inkspot mean patchy?

No, I'd generally say aslong as they're socialised well at a young age, Saarloos x's are not a shy breed.

Atleast the labradoodles are pretty much of a similar type, these Jugs seem to vary in size, looks e.t.c

Labradoodles are a mess just like wolf lookalikes. They are falsely advertised just the same, we have had loads as they are sold as hypoallergenic when there not.
Same as putting a Saarloss next to a kid in a pic doesnt make it a great family pet.
