I am sure you are right when talking about established KC recognised breeds.

I will agree with you on the 'easy payment' option.

Dawn is welcome to come and visit any time, as is anyone else genuinely interested in my dogs.

PS I am sorry for multi posting but I am working my way through and catching up from where I left off last night.

Please keep up - if you were reading CW then you would know that the muzzle was removed a while back and the bitch is quite happy with her pups now.

So sad:cry: I wonder where the dogs came from in the first place? What type of kennels etc. Surely someone who cares about their dogs and their wellbeing wouldn't just sell them willy nilly:cry:

    Have finally caught up.

It would seem that CR can't do right whatever he does - pups dying of starvation are not being fed by the bitch. So, he muzzles another bitch to make sure the pups can feed without being harmed when no one is supervising them and again he is wrong.

With regard to the posts on CW regarding JK, I think you will find that they were backed up with evidence and weren't just hearsay. Many of the posts were put on by the owners themselves, telling of their own personal experiences or were posted with their permission (which was also posted).

There is more to go on but that will be put on another site at some point.

I imagine he doesn't feel obliged to as he didn't start the thread and he posts on his own site.

Can I post some excerpts from the diary, on here? Mods please remove if not, but it shows how Carlic was used on more than one bitch, so there is the potential for pups from different litters to have the same father. Also how many attempts there were to breed from them all. Sark is, I believe, a NI bitch, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

    18 August 08 diary entry

Vogue and Carlic have been getting it together finally and we have had seven consecutive ‘locks’ over seven days. So far so good then! We also seem to have Emma, Dame Blanch, Zsazsa, D’Aquila and Indigo coming into season – what is it about this place that as soon as a new adult female dog arrives here she promptly comes into season?! I’ll let you know what happens as it all unfolds – Luporossa and Carlic are going to need some extra vitamins I reckon!

    22 August 08 diary entry

Carlic has started in earnest his courtship with D’Aquila today. It’s a tough life he has! They have had their first lock today, hopefully the first of several.

On the same them ‘Rossa is showing more interest in Zsazsa today than of late but still no more than a passing sniff for Dame Blanche. These Saarloos bitches evidently don’t read the standard textbooks about how long bitches remain in season for as they all seem to differ wildly. The best practice seems to be one of letting nature take its course. It all seems to start happening just at the point when we think that nothing at all is going to happen and we must have missed it!

    25 August diary 08 entry

D’Aquila and Carlic have now had several locks over four consecutive days, so things look quite promising there. Rossa is not having quite so much luck yet although Zsazsa and Dame Blanche are getting nearer to ‘cooperating’ with him each successive day.

It looks like Sark is finally going to come into season and Sequoyah is showing signs of not being too far behind. They were both due early to mid July so are a bit late – it would have been more helpful if they could have been on time as its looking, between them and the Saarloos, like I might have one or two litters landing all at roughly the same time. O joy!

    27 August 08 diary entry

Rossa is now bunking with Dame Blanche whom is getting very near to ‘standing’ for him. I just hope he doesn’t wear himself out before she is ready(!) as he seems to be ‘living on his nerves’ at the moment – which is quite usual for the male dogs in these circumstances.

Zsazsa is still not quite there yet, but we have decided to give her a miss this time as we are currently in danger of having too many simultaneous litters later this year.

Sark is now confirmed in season and she is also scheduled to be mated with Rossa, which is another good reason to give Zsazsa a rest this time – the poor lad will be on his knees otherwise! LOL

    29 August diary entry

Rossa is still bunking with Dame Blanche but there has been no ‘locks’ to date. It may turn out to be one of those mismatched personality things and I am happy whichever way it goes as we will not be short of litters in the new year the way things are going.

Particularly as Carlic ‘let himself in’ to Zsazsa’s pen yesterday and promptly ‘locked’ with her! To do this he had to ‘nip over’ a six foot set of bars, over a high gate into the area where Loupy Lou and Wolfie reside and subsequently over two more sets of six foot bars. When he had finished his business with Zsazsa he promptly took himself back to his own kennel by the same route in reverse!! We have decided that if they want pups that much they can have them and, accordingly, we have let them run together at exercise times with the inevitable result.

    1st Sept 08 Diary entry

Carlic and Zsazsa have had several locks over the last five days, so that union is looking likely to produce issue. He didn’t show any interest in her this afternoon so their passion is, presumably, now abating somewhat. Which is a good thing as Sequoyah has finally come into season today and she will be his next conquest.

    5th September 08 Diary entry

Carlic has had, thankfully, two locks with Sequoyah but has now stopped taking any further interest in her because Sark is ready. As Rossa won’t mate Sark we have put her to Carlic who has had his first lock with her today

    8th September 08 Diary entry

Carlic has finally settled down into a ‘normal mating routine’ with Sequoyah now so we are reasonably confident of a positive conclusion to their initially erratic courtship. However, he has now totally and utterly lost interest in Sark!

Accordingly, we made the decision to try Rossa with Sark again and low and behold we now also have success there too. As we have had an initial lock between Carlic and Sark we will give any pups produced a DNA test to exactly determine the sire. Using two male dogs on one bitch is, I readily confess, a somewhat unorthodox approach to dog breeding. However, the bottom line is that either sire is OK with Sark and with modern DNA techniques we can easily determine whom dad is so, under the circumstances, why not?

It takes time and effort...what kind of commercial breeder would waste that? It's not like they really care about their stock.

Doesn't sound like he's quite mapped out his breeding plan yet...or do only good breeders have those?

Edited to add: he does seem to have a lot of confessions.

I remember taking my first NI to JK for mating and being asked by her if my bitch would be ok in a pen with several males?

I was absolutely horrified - there was no way I was going to put my 'in season' bitch in with a pen full of stud dogs for a gang bang! Just imagine what fights that could of sparked off - let alone not knowing which one had actually mated her!!!

I know different methods are needed to accomodate certain breeds and some breeds are more difficult to breed than others.

For example - there has been many a time in the past where we had to stand a sheltie bitch on a stack of phone books to get a mating and with an uncomfortable time maintaining a tie.

Breeds are all different and different breeders have different methods of achieving the desired result.

did charlie have experiance in another breed? If so did he produce any notable dogs?

    oh dear!!!!

    What a great breeding programme!

Im inclined to believe that the reason the pups were not hand reared is because he probably had x amount of other bitches in whelp or with pups!
Decent breeders have 24 hours a day to dedicate their time to a bitch that is in whelp or with pups!
