These are quite lovely and very tempting (although I think it's the sable markings that the OH finds 'ugly' rather than the coat length :? ) but I have promised myself a short coat next time mainly due to the lifestyle we lead - and given the amount of rain we get here, where we lead it! My dogs are always wet and muddy either from the general wet muddiness of life or from swimming. After their walk in the morning I have to spend at least 1/2 hour towel drying and the using the dog blaster on them - this is particularly important for Enfys and probably for Dido too now that she's older. I rarely manage to brush them as much as they need (which is pretty well every day) and Enfys has a coat that turns into felt when it gets at all damp so I'm always having to chop bits out of it where it gets too tangled to brush. No, it's definitely a short coat for me next time  although thinking about it if OH gets his long coat it will probably be me who does all the maintenance anyway :019:

This is exactly what I'm trying to avoid doing ;-)

How can he not like sable?!

I completely agree with your thoughts on longcoats. Flame's coat is like your Enfys, and turns to felted mats almost immediately it gets wet :-( I think her coat is so difficult to manage because she is spayed. Prior to spaying she had a lovely silky coat. Yogi's is easier to deal with, but he also gets mud up to his eyeballs in bad weather and takes ages to dry out when wet. Zak sheds much more hair than the other two put together, but the ease of maintenance of his coat means I will probably never have another longcoat.

Tell your hubby that if he wants a fluffy, then he has to turn into the dog groomer
