Blimey it was 2000 I think but Peggy Grayson was judging PRT that year Can't remember who was judging Schipperkes. Becky
Not really. I know this thread isn't about how they began, but from my breed's point of view, only the NI have benefited from using Mals, Mals haven't benefited from being crossed and turned into NI's, in fact, it's worse, because instead of people asking what my dogs are and/or recognising them for the Primitive Working sled dogs that they are, like people used to, they are now mistaken for "The Wolf Lookalikes" :-( But that won't happen, because the reason people break away in the first place, is because they dont agree on things. If everyone was happy, they wouldnt form their own clubs. It is a shame and I can see it happening in my breed along with others before long, because so many people are unsatisfied. I'll now shtum and allow the Poodle debate to continue
The coat colour is classed as a fault :-( The long coat GSD may be shown, and is an accepted standard, but you don't see any in the ring (or very few)
Therefore you would put health and ability over colour, and quite right too :smt023 Now, suppose there were two Poodles in the Show ring - a Parti of excellent healthy conformation, and a `right` coloured dog of poorer conformation - which should be placed [ given that Parti`s are allowed in the ring ;-) ] As Becky rightly said though, at one time only two colours were accepted [ by UK KC and/or Breed Council ], and now all the solids are considered equal [ individual judges personal prejudice or bias aside ], so whose to say Parti`s won`t become accepted also - the other colours were probably as strongly opposed at one time as well ;-) ... ... ... ... :smt016 :smt016 :smt016 :smt016 :smt016 [ whooooosh - oops I just overtook Linford Christie while I`m running away ]
as regards the northern inuit standard, this is a new breed still beeing developed, the standerd we have has been there for ten years and needs to be updated and to develop with the breed.i asked borderdawn for help with writting and wording the breed standard [she didnt offer] and lucky enough for us she accepted. as for black and white poodles, sorry seems like i opened another can of worms by saying i liked them,me and my big mouth lol.
But if they werent happy, why did they not openly voice their concerns instead of going about sneakily trying to turn members against us before they actually left the NIS, using NIS property to contact members and effectively stealing said property when they left, not the actions of open, above board people in my opinion. Now I will keep shtum and let the Poodle war rage on
It is such a shame when people start breakaway groups just because they either don't agree with the established club, or because they think they know better and can do better. Not ever having had an NI all of what you wrote is news to me but it does happen in many clubs, not just dog clubs. Another example I could give you is right here in the Czech Republic, (bear in mind that this is a country with a population less than London) when we came here there were already two clubs, one national and one in Prague (The capital) since then another club has been formed by someone who was kicked out of the national club for a very petty reason. It does make one think what the hell is going on:-(
I was asked to help with the wording, I accepted, I am not rewriting anything! Now let me think:? ................................because there are just a few people with wrong coloured ones and they are the ONLY ones in the whole country that want it changed? Again, how long have you owned Poodles for? PATCH!! HOW COULD YOU!!! my poor dog!
Now what id LOVE to see are pics of the early dogs through to present day.How the breed has changed & developed etc! id LOVE to see that (aslong as its a "safe topic")
Me too, I would love to see pictures of the first dogs
I have no idea as I'm not a member of either, but usually when things like that happen, it's because someone isn't listening along the way, whether it be the club or the member I guess. Communication needs to be so spot on with these things I suppose and there isn't that foundation, you're in trouble. It is a shame, as good communication could have stopped so much confusion and contraversy surrounding the breed which isn't so bad, when a breed is already established, but when you're trying to establish a breed it seems to put the dampener on it all the time. I think maybe once the standard is set in stone, things will be more black and white and not so many problems, as everyone, good or bad, will know what they have to aim for. At least then the people that dont really care about the breed will stand out ;-) As for the Poodles, I like the Yellow ones
Me too, I would love to see pictures of the first dogs
I would love to see that too.. But thats another question that is never answered.. Who were the first GSD/Mal/SIbe used?? What were their hip scores etc?
