It always amused me that the old TV advert for Winalot - where an assortment of dog breeds are pictured free running across country - was accompanied by music performed by the Barking Light Orchestra.
I do not remember that advert, but when Mother collected our small rescue dog from Battersea Dogs Home she was advised to feed her on PAL mixed with Winalot. And that was what she was fed every day - the only treat being on a Sunday when the woman across the road used to bring over the bone from their Sunday roast - wrapped in newspaper. A cooked bone, of course, but then no-one knew much better in those days. Same with the choke-chain collar - shades of Barbara Woodhouse and her "walkies!" and "sit"!
