We have had a few days without too much rain , so have been outside trimming tree branches Making the most of it . Pup had a tick on him today so I put the treatment on them both dogs again . He has gotten used to me looking through his hair and pulling ticks off with the forceps , I think the word tick he now knows . they can paralyze and kill dogs here so we have to keep alert . I like to think if they have some dingo blood in the dogs they can have some immunity . Although I wouldn’t bet on that . wet again outside now , we had a couple really hot days this week , so icy poles from the freezer and sits in the shade with short spurts of action between .
Its been non stop sunny here for the last two weeks...Yay..... Took woofer for a walk today and the ' Doxie' whos name is Minute as in very small, tagged along with us for the entire walk. This is probably only the third time he has ever done this, we were very honored. For the Doxie fans out there I took a couple of photos...
Oh yes I forgot to say his big orange collar is when he tags along on the hunts of which there have been very few this year..
Well cyclone niran looks like going the other way now . It caused a bit of chaotic winds and rain , Had a few extra tree branches to cut up here , , Down the hill they had crops wiped out , power out and the usual stuff . No biggie
Been Lovely here today, the gardens a flurry with small birds singing and looking for nesting places/materials, though I’ve spent most of the day chasing rooks from bird table.
We had an almighty hailstorm on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning - this is a picture of the aftermath in town [that is the ambulance station not far from the entrance to town] that just came through a google alert as Ashqelon was mentioned. It is from a weekend online newspaper, not one I usually read, so I didn't know how bad it had been. It was extremely noisy though - no wonder I thought my roof was going to cave in.
I can only remember two other times that we had hail since I came - at least in this area. But the weather has been very stormy - unusual for this time of year.
Winter came back in February with a vengeance, with storms galore and quite heavy snow in Jerusalem and other high areas.
A bit wet on and off last few days , The dogs are enjoying swimming in the creeks that are awash . cyclone Niran that was off the coast went away and became a category 5 that is headed in New Caledonia’s direction they were reporting on the news
Today is the vernal equinox - the first day of spring - and everyone taking their usual Shabbat stroll around seems to have totally discarded all winter clothes and changed to summer wear. I know it's been lovely and sunny for days now, but being stuck indoors all the time I am still wearing warm things, although I have finally discarded my thermals!
It has been a very chilly March here in SW France, I would go as far to say freezing.. The day before yesterday it almost snowed and the temperature barely rose above 4 degrees all day, along with a very cold wind made the whole day pretty grim.. The sun came out yesterday and took a couple of shots of the spring flowers to try and cheer myself up...
We have had similar weather here Andrew. The daffodils have survived everywhere, but it wiped out the crocus just as they were flowering. Today is a gorgeous day for the first day of Spring - cool but bright and sunny. The Pieris is flowering in the garden, but not much is happening with the other shrubs.
I see from the news that certain parts have been flooded - and that there is also a plague of rodents. Some horrific pictures and videos.
