High winds, non stop rain, cold..... just horrible..... Tootsy is going to leave home cos she has not had a walk in a couple of days....
The rain didn't get to us until mid afternoon so we had a pleasant walk this morning. Not too cold either, thankfully
There was a slight break in the weather so I braved it and took Toots for a good walk... She is now puffed out and lying in front of the fire... Mission accomplished...
I think it is slightly cooler here today but only by a couple of degrees. Last week was atrocious as there was a cherry-picker going round lopping the tops off all the trees that were fouling the overhead cables, so the power was off/on/off/on for a couple of days - during a mini heatwave.
Nice and sunny today..... Not sure when the French hunting season starts so I went for a walk with Tootsy with some trepidation especially as it was a Sunday, their main hunting day.. We were right out in the sticks in a magical clearing with fantastic views of the nearby Cajarc gorges when two dear chased out in front of me, a lovely sight lit perfectly in the sun. However in the background in the nearby woods came the constant howling of a hunting dog. I got a bit worried as the hound got closer and closer, I imagined him chasing past with a bunch of hunters in hot pursuit taking pot shots at Me and Tootsy.. Luckily just the hound ran past on his lonesome, howling like a banshee.. Tootsy ran over to say hello but the hound was on a mission and just ran straight past her, I figured it was probably lost and was trying to make its way home as it didnt pick up on the scent of the deer... Them dumb French hunting hounds they do make me laugh....
@Andrew Sheldon Almost every day I am asked, (on another site), to support the home page of the Beagle, Beagle Harrier, and Harrier Club of France. On their home page there is an option to join, but the option to decline is non functional. As I am not a chasseur, I don't know how I have attracted their attention. Is hunting with hounds under threat in France?
It is now the sort of weather that I wish we had all year round. Still very warm outside so my home soaks it up and I still need the a/c on in the salon during the afternoon and evening [mornings are just perfect] and in my bedroom at night, but only set on 26°C [78.8°F] which suits me fine. Anything warmer or colder tends to cause my old joints to hurt. I have not had to put the units on in the kitchen or back room for a couple of weeks now, unless I will be doing something in the kitchen which takes time. I am dreading the winter though, especially if we get heavy rain and my shower room floods again.
It is cold and breezy here today - as expected as Mars and the stars were so bright in a clear sky last night. At least it is dry, and the breeze helps to dry up some of the mud. Dainty Merry followed me closely and managed to stay clean, but of course Eddie had to take a path that is more used and has come home with muddy boots!
Warming up here , around the 30 deg C mark. A need to water veggies and trees beginning, The first mangoes appearing , Birds happy when they see sprinklers on and buckets filled , Like members of the family.
Jerusalem and the Shomron had their first rain of the season yesterday but so far none is forecast for this area yet.
Sorry Carole to be honest I haven't got a clue whether hunting hounds are under threat in France but in my region the Aveyron/Lot border I'd say its still flourishing. Serge our local farmer has about 8 or more of hounds and the outlying farms you can see them penned up in back yards. All the hunters have cages on the back of their trucks and meet up in a hunting lodge up the lane from my house, I guess there are between 20-40 of them. I tend to keep myself to myself a wee bit with the locals, they put up with us English but you can kind of tell they are just being polite.. Having said that if ever you need help they would go out of their way to assist you.
Its been very windy and warm here for about 3 days now, its been howling around the house knocking branches of the trees and blowing flower pots over... grrr... Tootsy hates the wind and actually gets quite scared, she jumps up next to me on the settee and presses herself against me for support, normally she isn't a lap dog so I guess it makes a change....
