I checked the local forecast it gave no rain till 1 o’clock so hung out washing early within 5 mins it was chucking it down, it's a bit brighter now.
Big thunderstorm a couple of nights ago. Tootsy was plastered next to me in bed all night, she has become scared of thunder and heavy rain as the years have gone by, its a bit strange how they can change as it didnt used bother her in the past.. The temps are lot more comfortable now even when the sun comes out... lovely...
The winds here have eased a little today. The past couple of days have been around the 45 mph speeds. Bit of all sorts today. Bit of a breeze, bit of sun here and there, lots of cloud and it now looks like it's going to rain. Hasn't put anyone off coming to our lovely coast. Quite the opposite unfortunately
I had hoped that the bad weather would have given you a bit of respite Chris - sorry to hear that it has not done so. No change in the weather here, as usual. That big yellow thing in the sky is still laughing its head off at us.
The crowds will ease off after the first week in September when the kids go back to school Juli. Added to that is that they are closing part of the main road into town for 8 months while it's repaired. The town will then be ours again
The Ministry of Health issued a warning towards the end of last week as yet another heatwave was due. Another? It has been hot for months now, but this was going to be even worse. Supposedly peaking on Sunday and then easing off. Today is Tuesday and easing off is not happening. This morning when I surfaced and moved from my a/c cooled bedroom [not cold - it was set to 26°C which is just comfortably cool] through into the rest of the bungalow, the heat hit me like going into a furnace. I might only have 3/4 length net curtains across the doorways instead of doors, but oh the difference once I moved out of my bedroom. As for getting cold water out of the cold taps......lukewarm is the best I can hope for. But I must not complain because I do have the a/c units so can keep cool indoors - I just dread to think what it must be like for people who have to be outside.
Perfect day here today for us, Juli. A nice 20 degrees. Little breeze to speak of and sunshine all the way. Absolutely wonderful after an awful week of wind, rain and dull. I hate it when it's too hot so 18-20 degrees is my ideal weather. A little bit quieter in town too. Still quite a lot of folk here, but not nearly as many. Hopefully we can wave off a good many more at the end of this week.
I wouldn't survive. I come home with wet hair after exercising the Beags on even a moderately warm day. I operate best at 69 - 70F. Warm and sunny this morning but gathering cloud since lunchtime. I suspect that I will have to find some indoor space for the washing.
That doesn't sound much fun Juli, our hot spell which lasted a month or so was bad enough. The hot weather kind of makes me go a bit gaga .... Temps here around 25 at present but are meant to get hotter at the weekend but Im sure it will not be like the constant 40degrees we were having... I took Tootsy for a walk at 11.00 am today, I certainly couldn't have done that last month because of the heat.. My bedroom temp was 30degrees at night, slept with a fan 2 inches from the end of my nose... ha
I think it was in May that we had a heatwave of over 40°C for six days in a row, and full summer had yet to start. This last weekend the temperature reached just under 45° in Tiberius and not much lower anywhere else. I would not be able to cope without the a/c units - how I managed without them I will never know - and for years I did not even have a fan. Or a heater for the winter.
Still glorious sunshine here on the east coast (UK). Warm with a gentle breeze and blue skies all the way. Loverrly
