We woke up to find snow and blowing a blizzard and the temperature is -6C! I was so thankful that yesterday we managed to get out do a BIG shop because if it carries on snowing there's no way I'll be able to open the driveway gates to get the car onto the road. I spent nearly £50 on meat alone which included a measly £2.50 for 4 minute steaks for me, but at least now I can hibernate until the weather improves without having to worry about running out of food for their majesties! My car which I can't get into the garage until Victor cuts up the logs blocking the entrance! Looking up to the top of the garden. View over the village green Gwylim in his warm winter coat!
It does look cooold, but so very picturesque. I'm so jealous of your large garden. Love Prince Gwilym's warm coat.
I live in the Country that is known for Sun, Sea, and Sand. But it's bloomin' freezin' an' rainin' an' cold.
@Malka Hope things have straightened for you by now health wise. As to the weather. I'm not complaining but Florida was a sunny 28F this morning with a "high" of only 58F for today. All the babies are cuddled under the electric blanket except Rheana. She prefers to wrap herself in my thermal knit long sleeved T-shirt and tuck her head under the pillow. And where is Phoebe? In her tunnel under the house.
The moment I saw the village and the house I now live in I knew it was where I wanted to live. My son told me I was completely mad to even consider it because the house was just a shell, no bathroom, kitchen, no inside water or electricity and in places the roof was caving in! I've got just over half an acre of garden, half of which is enclosed so the dogs have plenty of space to run around in. It took nearly a year before I could get right up to the top because it was a jungle of brambles, nettles and saplings. The view from the top of the land though is stunning ... you can see for miles and miles!
So sorry for both you and Pereg. Hope you get the RX soon, bad enough the cold weather without being ill too. The news says it will "warm up" to 30 by tomorrow, right now wind chill is like -1
@Malka Sorry to read this - it really is bad news night tonight. I hope you are coping with all of your problems, health, weather, and now Pereg too. I know you will say, 'I cope because I have to', but wish that a glimmer of support from this site reaches you, and is able to give you strength.
It's calming down after a night of gales and hurricane speed winds up here in Scotland Next up heavy rain, more wind and snow.
Carole I wondered how you were getting on as the wind raged around here last night. Nothing like Scotland though...
We had another load of snow dumped on us during the night and it's still a freezing cold -6C and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get snow again tonight! Georgie is enjoying herself in the snow but Gwylim prefers to be inside. I think he must have felt cold in the night because I woke up at about 2am to find a little body snuggled up next to me and a beard tickling my face!
We missed the worst of it but it was really bad during the night. Can't imagine being up in the islands during it. First storm of the year and won't be the last.
It's back here now, hope its not headed your way Carole . The worst part is taking the dogs out when it is like this, Chloe is not keen on walking past sheets of corrugated iron flapping in the wind.
Poor Chloe Finn is a bit like that with shop metal shutters. I've just been told he ran away from a bag that blew onto his leg today So much for the big tough boxer
Quite alright, Sophie has been known to run from sign shadows. I'm pleased I got them out last night. Now it's 22 out there...time for hot cocoa and hibernating with some good reading.
It has actually stopped raining although everything outside is saturated and the drainage ditches are full, but the sun has shown its face so it is currently nice and bright and if the rain stays off and the sun stays around, I might even have enough hot water for a shower!
