I know you , know what I mean, as you say they are dogs with Spirit!:lol:
I really don't think they are a dog for everybody, they require a lot of time and energy, just keeping him out of mischief is a full time job;-) and I have Meggie to help keep him in line, so poor you:mrgreen:
He has the most fantastic personality, very loving, very intelligent, which sometimes is not such a good thing:blush: he will find something to do if you don't keep him occupied, though he has never been destructive. He is much happier when he has company too, though my neighbours do tell me they don't hear anything when I am out. He has been socialised the same as any other dog I have had with livestock, horses etc, but his prey drive is as good as it will get, basically don't trust him. He can go through a field now onlead, and behave, but if he got off lead, not good.
I have actually put a few people off getting this type of dog:blush: they go gaga over his looks and personality, but once I start going on about health issues, breeding practises, the reality that you may have a dog that you may not be able to let off lead ever .How much training I have done with him, though I do find him very clever and easy to train, he does have a low boredom threshold, so it has to stay fun and not repetitive, he will pick something up straightaway, but after he has done it a couple of times, gets the attitude, of okay, I have done it, now what!
I have not seen any aggression in his nature, unless you are a rabbit  and he is on the whole a very laid back dog with other dogs.He loves to get the chance to play with any dog, but I have noticed some dogs do not like him and will take an instant dislike to him, and that confuses him, he will just stand there looking confused, and as yet has never retaliated, even when he was attacked by another dog. But that may change one day,as he is still maturing.

As for the health issues,t I really do believe are a problem, I would be happy if all breeding stopped for now. Until a time when people can work together, and be totally honest about problems, health testing is compulsary, pedigrees and lines better researched, and everything is above board for anybody to look at, like any other breed. Only then would I have another one, so I have a feeling he could be my only dog of this type.

Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant:blush: but I adore my boy, and it seriously pees me off, that breeders are still breeding without tests, and research. Selling to totally unsuitable owners, or are not being totally honest about the needs of these types of dogs. It is not the dogs fault, in the right hands they are fantastic companions, who are wonderful to be around, if you have the time to commit to them.

Exactly like Mack fab recall,as long as there is nothing small and furry. I am lucky I have use of a field near to me, so everyday he has a good run, I also have started Cani X to get him doing something. I agree if he doesn't have a good run everyday, I know about it:mrgreen:

Totally agree about the breeding, I do think it may be time to say , this is not working, and let the wolfy type die out naturally. As far as Utes are concerned the gene pool is much too small, same dogs are used over and over again! I could rant about this for ages.As for the politics and the people involved, wish they would wake up, and see what a genetic mess and time bomb they are creating.

Linda you have been one of the few people I have trusted, and I know how much research you have done, and I have always appreciated any advice and help. Thank you xxxxx

Oh God, the poor dogs! Which name is she using this time, I wonder?

Aw thank you Suzi, I appreciate that.
There's just no excuse for condemning dogs (and their future owners) to ill health and diseases - no matter how much one loves the breed.
