Tikki has 'been' outside!!! That is a breakthrough. Was it a wee or a poop? You can't watch her all day, but now she has shown that she will do it there, I would put her out whenever there seems to have been a longish interval since the previous one, and really reward her if she obliges. I have been quite lucky in that although we have had a fair amount of wetting, Merry did appear to know the words, 'quicky' and 'poopoo', and will make the effort to 'go' outside, - whether she needs to go or not! I presume that the kennel staff must have used the same words when letting them into the paddock. I don't bother for wees any more, as they are usually instant, but I always reward the poos, as having dogs that will perform on command is such a boon in cold or wet weather!
With all the earth and yuck that spewed down during the heavy rain, dry for now, I have no idea what she has "done". Also, my door being at the side I cannot see Tikva when she wanders off to the front of the bungalow. Pee will soak in very quickly and her poos are tiny ones so are difficult to tell from the stones and bits of dry mud although there are definitely a few Tikki poos out there, all in the same place. All I know is that she wants to go outside as soon as she has had her [now rather late] breakfast - either chicken neck or wing - and will stay outside for 3 or 4 hours, so she must have done something somewhere. At least she is not coming in to do anything on a puppy pad indoors. She just likes being outside, rushing around and "talking" to everyone who goes past. Also I cannot just put her out as she will not budge, and she will also not go out when it is dark. Yet. She only wants to go out when she wants, and her idea of being out is immediately after breakfast when there is sun in the front and on the patio at the side. She certainly gets enough exercise as she chases backwards and forwards to the length of her tether, just as Pereg did, but being so much smaller than Pereg she probably runs at least twice as far, if not more. As she is now on two meals only, the second [meat and vegetables] being around 6-7pm instead of the previous 3pm, she will not go out once she has eaten because it is dark, even though I have the outside lights on, but she does normally poo almost immediately on a puppy pad. Strange puppy...
