I borrowed thsi from a friend then went and bought it myself. It's one of my favourite books now. I can actually visualise someone lying ontheir back with their legs in the air attempting to get the attention of a GSD, only to realise the dog was taking no notice but an old lady was watching; and then to have to rugby tackle the dog to get him to stop - had me in stitches. A lot fo it had me in tears too though. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. Wow - how fantastic of Zena to giv eup her ball. I think she's amazing. My Yiannis is 20 months old (same age as Zena almost??) and there's no way that no I've got him interested in balls, he'd let one go (although Jenzi doesn't giv ehim a choice!) Laura xx
Lol Laura, Zena gives her ball up to nearly every dog we meet, and yet NEVER to me when I want it, except if she wants me to throw it!!! Those lovely pictures, but one particularly stood out to me, that picture you posted MichaelM of your 3 indoors, with Ella on the sofa, and that look on her face, just about says all there is to say about a gsd, they have such a demure look of sheer intelligence don't they, and it stands out a mile in that pic of her! I'm loving their friend Bo and his sister of course, beautiful sheps. Love the picture "spot the goldie" Karen, I have never seen a baby Bailey before and now I've completely melted! What smashing dogs you have bred too, especially Bailey's sister Zelda. How is she getting on now with those new owners, do you know or hear from them at all??? I hope it was and still is the perfect home.
Hi, Here are a few recent piccies of my GSDs. I wouldn't describe any of them as having intelligence though! Jenzi Jenzi Jenzi Zane Zane Zane Yiannis Yiannis Zane (left) & Yiannis (right) Jenzi & Yiannis I think Yiannis was contemplating getting off the sofa but Jenzi had other ideas. Jenzi (left) & Yiannis (right) Oops! Too late! She pounced and got him to play before he had the chance to get down. Laura xx
Hi Helen Your Zena was no ugly Duckling she was/is beautiful I have a picture of Bailey as a youngster and he looks bloomin weird , not one of the nicest looking GSD's I can tell you. I will have to dig it out. Zelda is Fine and happy in her new home thanks, I had an up-date on her 2 weeks ago and a couple of pics she looks really well, her new owners love her a lot and told me she has been an absolute darling from day one, it's like she has always lived with them no problems at all. did you see Bailey's Bro Ozzy? he is so like Bailey except his ears never stood up thanks for asking about Zelda here are her recent pics.
oh well, if we`re posting old piccies... here are my golden oldies too: my first Shep, Sheila (a soul mate dog) my second, Lucy (a holy terror) my third, Holly (a sweet girl) and an old foster I nursed in her final year - the indomitable Sheba
Lol Laura, at picture No. 4, your Zane has hitched his leg up against his other back leg to stop it fliding off the chair - and you say they're not intelligent??????!!!! Hi Karen, so very glad to hear Zelda has fallen on her paws with that lovely family, and look how good she is standing there on that green near to a main road like that, but then, that's a shep for you isn't it!!!;-) Totally trusworthy (well, I've never had one that isn't!) That gorgeous picture of Bailey (and his brother, yes!), how old would he have been there then? You see, you never can really tell about that coat can you, coz look at him now with all his long, luxurious, snuggable fur, oh I love him soooooooooo.xxx You've had some nice sheps too Claire, your Sheila is almost identical to my old Sacha, the only shortcoat we ever had, but nevertheless, still a wonderful dog. They're all lovely, but I love Sheba she's a big, chunky girl isn't she, I like chunky!
Casper is goooooooorgeous He's an unusual colour too, I have a white, but not as pretty white as Casper is, it's almost tinged with a taupe colour unless that's just the camera? Don't let him hear you saying that or you'll be in big trouble about him not being the sharpest tool in the box, but then again, my white is seriously lacking in the intelligence stakes too, so maybe it's in the genes!
They call it champagne I think, he's definately more ginger in the summer than winter so perhaps the sun gives it more of a tinge. You can see his colour here - excuse the tuftyness, this was pre-Furminator session!
Lovely pic again Georgie has that same tinge to his coat especially along his back, but now that he's so old, he's turner whiter by the day, but thank goodness he hates walking in muddy puddles!
LOL - about 20 seconds after I took that picture of Zane on the sofa he slid off. That was about the 4th attempt he'd made to stay on. I made the mistake of polishing it and rubbing off afterwards. usually we use a cover imediately after I've polished it, but I hadn't put one on. Laura xx
Oh that's one of MY favourites too, she is absolutely gorgeous your Zara especially in that last pic, they look so very proud of themselves don't they!
Wow - those photos of Zara are brilliant! I especially love the first one. Kai looks gorgeous too, GSD Lover, I can't wait to see more piccies of her
So pleased you obviously enjoyed the book as much as I did Laura I have already read it a number of times and each chapter has me either laughing hysterically out loud, or bawling my eyes out (especially Friend's story! ). It is one of my favourite books too. I wrote to the author to tell him how much I had enjoyed it and asked whether he would be writing another. Unfortunately the book hasn't had enough publicity to fund writing another yet, but he is working on it.
I hope you are kidding Laura ;-) All your dogs will be highly intelligent - they may just hide their brilliance from time to time What is Jenzi's story? Was she a rescue? She is lovely. I really like that sable colouring. Is she a working line do you think?
