Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer  Here is Mishka now with her family. All is well, she is now accepted by her other dogs. She is 15 weeks old today & plays with her 6 year old Staffie really well, they are both very crazy & love each other, its great to watch.

Her 12 year old Weimaraner Senya is showing her age now, when she stands still for any length of time her hips go right down, but she still loves her country walks & has no problem when flushing out phesants.

    Dawn

Flynn is only half Slovak, the other half being GWP, but he definately has the build and coat of the Slovak.

Thanks to David for posting this thread as I get asked on a daily basis what kind of dog Flynn is and nobody ever seems to know what a SRHP is!

A full Slovak is definately on my list of dogs to own before I depart this earth and i'll watch with interest how the breed progresses.

Hi Leanne, have you started an gundog training with flynn yet? On the well known social network site in the gundog group i remember you posting a pic of him and you mentioned you might have a go with him.

Lovely looking pup from what i remember:)

I wont be doing any gundog training with him as it's not a path I want to take. I sometimes think it's a shame as when we are out walking he naturally hunts and points and it's fascinating to see him doing this and he obviously has an inate desire to work in this way. I know nothing when it comes to assessing whether a gundog would make a good worker but he appears to have excellent potential.

However, I am fully aware that he needs to be brought on in some way so i'm currently enquiring about Working Trials classes.

Yes, he is a handsome chap who gets attention on a daily basis, at the expense of poor old Jed of course who everybody either ignores or makes a polite obligatory comment about!

Thank you for remembering me, i'll have to get some pics posted up on this site.

Gundog training is great and you don't have to go down the road of going to shoots etc. if you don't want to.

I take my 2 year old Spanish gundog training and she loves it! Good luck in whatever dog sport you take up.

WOW!!! Maybe I have found what my dog is!!!
This is "Stck", she is now 10 mos old, and weighs about 55 pounds, shes stands 24 inches tall. I though maybe wolfhound mix but now I think maybe SRHP or a mix that just happens to look almost excatly like one!
What do you think? Lookls like Purdies littermate to me! LOL!

    "Stunning"? and "Georgeous"!!
I came to the right place, I LOVE you guys!!!!!!!!!!

.........see, when I first got her and I wondered what she was made of, I posted her pic on a forum for German WIrehaired Pointers, And they weren't so very nice. One of them even said "Definatly not GWP, guess your out of luck"...

    "Snob!"-I thoughts to m'self-
I think I am the luckiest dog owner of all, GWP or not!

when I saw those pictures of Purdy that started this thread I about died because its the closest dog to Stick I have yet to see!

I would say she deffo has SRHP in her, the colouring is only really shared by Weimaraners and Slovaks but they arent a common breed, not even in their native country.

If she is a Slovak then those on the GWP forum were technically wrong as SRHP's were created from GWP's Cesky Fouseks and Weims. I'm surprised they didnt suggest the Slovak...

She is absolutely beautiful though and you are right to be proud of her!

Here is an older pic of Stick that shows her tail, it is long and curled like a wolfhound or deerhound's. She was maybe 5 months old here.

And I got a pic of her pointing ...!

And here's how she named herself and I like this picture because it shows her pretty eyes.
