Pit Bulls don't exist General Chat

They are not gentle. Wild cattle are different from domestic cattle. Sorry that it is upsetting to some.
Dogs are also animals and they have instinct and prey drive. Sometimes they do hurt other animals, it's not good but it happens.

Historically the term "bulldog" was only applied in so far as "a dog used to bait a bull" rather than any singular breed or type. Naturally some traits proved superior thus leading to the evolution of the more standardised catch-dog. The Old White Bulldog (OSW) is indeed still around although the type has lost ground in its purer forms in recent years, I'd actually go as far as to say you'd have an easier time of it finding purer OSW dogs here in the UK than anywhere else. We have two well established breeding programs line breeding on Hog Hammer and Whittles Eric respectively, two of the best Billy Hines dogs ever produced.
Now you will find some folk, including a few breeders that will try to tell you that the Old White is essentially the Olde English Bull Baiter preserved into the 21st century and similarly romantic tales. Its not, whether its the closest in type is at least a debate that could be had and it can claim to be the basis of the modern AB lines but the dog itself is thought to be primarily a mixture of the aformentioned English Bull Baiter, Conquistador-era Spanish Alaunts that were still knocking about in the South, Bull and Terrier, Coonhound, Catahoula Cur and whatever else the farmer had lying about. Its also worth noting that when JDJ first set out to restore the breed he spent a lot of time scouring for viable specimens and only turned up a handful of dogs to start the line, its only after the JDJ line got established and the breed started to get noticed that all of a sudden all these "old lost bloodlines"suddenly started pouring out of every backwater in the American South, go figure lol.
