I suppose I should be a good sport and post some pics of my dogs so you can all slag them off (kidding :D ) Its only fair, im thick skinned so I can take the critisism :D
this is tara, she would NEVER get placed in a KC show, she carries her tail curled for starters, and has a narrower head and longer muzzle than normal staffs, but thats something I like.]
She is very fit and is always raring to go.
She is out of condition in this pic as she just had a litter of pups but it will give you an idea what im on about, note she has a longer body and neck and a more "racy" shape than most staffords her size group (she stands about 15")

I think you will find that the majority of people dont like to offend by slagging peoples dogs off- even if their own dogs are slagged off by others :)

this is Jazz, he is predominantly KK bred and stands about 18", he is a blue brindle and hes lovely, blue may be a dilution of black but I think it is gorgeous, I dont think Im alone in that opinion.
Jazz is a heavier type of dog than Tara, but still very active, sporty and muscular, the type of dog I like :D
(sorry first pic isnt very good)

edited, rubbish pic of jazzy, Im sure i have a nicer one of him, will dig it out and post tomorrow, off to bed now! nite nite :smt039

none of my dogs look identical, they are all different shapes sizes and colours, and thats the way I like it.
I choose them for excellent temperament, health and vitality, I cant explain exactly what it is but its a certain X factor, which I dont find in KC staffs, if I did see the X factor in that type of staffie I would have them instead.
Irish dogs are just bigger and more "ballsy" I just like them better.
Life would be hellish boring if we all like the same things! :D
Irish staffs have traditionally been bred from dogs of varying height, colour, weight etc, i dont think that will ever change, and if it were to change I think they might start to lose a bit of that mysterious X factor.
Just my opinion. This thread is called "perfect stafford" now i think that dog has yet to be born, no dog can ever be 100% perfect, but we can strive in that direction whether we like irish or normal staffs :D

    yep thats right :D
i like to take my dogs off into the fields and let them charge aroud and gallop and romp and they need to be fit to do this. I like to take them swimming and cycling. If what tusker says is true about some of the famous dogs wheezing and being out of breath, then they are a far cry from fit and healthy wouldnt you agree?

Have at long last had a spare moment at work and have managed to work my way through the posts on this tthread that I had previously not read.
Don't want to restart an arguement but want to explain a couple of things...
As with Jayne haven't worked out how to do multiple quotes on one post so bare with me

Which picture are you refering to please?
Maybe you should ask Thordell...she is a judge and has judged 2 of my boys.....
However I must admit I find it AMAZING that anyone can assess a coated breeds weight without being 'hands on' unless the dog is either obese or on the point of starvation.

Sorry to quote you Ems  but I would like to ask why you were 'thanked' for your opinion when you were very blunt and when I said I didn't like my dogs as lean as the other I got attacked for it!
Wonder if its cos it doesn't say staffy on my profile :?:
