They mostly all came from Taz.. who was said to be a full wolf.

The trouble about the standard Becky, is they (breeders) are still not breeding to standard.. anyone is breeding their pet dogs to make some quick bucks.

Too many lies to become a breed, too much backstabbing and pedigree changing to suit screw ups and more lies to cover it up again!!

Re heads, I personally think Pagen and Wicca are the dogs I see as an NI.

Thats exactly what I've been saying for years - I tried to get someone to write a breed standard for a wolf - but it never happened and he just wrote another version of the NI standard.

The trouble also is that we all have different opinions of what a wolf looks like - there are so many different types of wolf that not everyone is aiming at the same type.

Yes its possible to start again and keep accurate records from now - and that is what some of us are doing but they won't be called NI, because what we are breeding will be different.

ETA: Before anyone says something - the reason we will not be calling them NI is because they won't be the same, genetically, and will (hopefully) be healthier but only time will tell. They are not being given a new name yet as they are not a breed, merely a cross/hybrid and are being advertised and sold as such, but the main purpose of the crossing is to give us sound breeding stock for the future. If everyone was involved with the breeding programme then yes, they could be called NI - but that just won't happen. Accurate records and DNA profiles will be kept this time.

Thank you Dawn. Incidentally, you might not know this, but they both have the same sire - who goes back to Olderhill and Taz.

Funnily enough - Wicca and Amber are litter sisters - which just goes to show the diversity even within a litter, let alone the 'breed'.

It certainly does, with no disrespect to Amber, she looks like a GSD X.

I think he looks exactly like a GSD Elaine, I reckon if he went into rescue thats exactly what they would say he is. My opinion only of course.

Did the person who owns that dog give permission for the photo to be put up and critiqued?
I'd be quite hurt if someone done that to me.

Thats a very valid point - pics should only be posted if they are your own or you have the owners permission.

Here is Cloud - she is often mistaken for a Husky (the black and white ones often are - as the pure whites are mistaken for white GSDs). Standing next to a Husky or GSD the differences are obvious - but not when standing alone (I have got pics of them together somewhere on the pc but can't find them just now.

    I agree Becky.

How many years does it take to get a breed recognised? Of course there is a chance for any breed.
