    Having a bit of an air head day, Sally what is the difference do you think from a rehome and a rescue ?

    I dont think she is sure as she has called Kato a rehome and a rescue???????

    You're right I'm not entirely sure! lol. There are some grey areas here - (and I don't know Kato's history so can't be sure if I'd class him as a rescue or rehome), but IMO a rescue is a dog that has been literally rescued from an unhappy situation. I should say that any dog in a rescue centre is a rescue, as is any dog that has been neglected or mistreated.

    On the other hand, some dogs need to be rehomed but they have (up until the rehome at least) had a happy and healthy life. Possible reasons for a rehome would be owners emigrating or moving to a home where they can't take the dog with them, owner becoming ill or dying and unable to care for the dog any more... etc etc..

    IMO there is no difference. If a dog has to be rehomed due to circumstance whether owner circumstance or issues with the dog specifically, they are still a rescue as in needed to find a new home. They don`t need to have been through a rescue centres doors to be classified as a rescue`d dog.
