Thank you for all the advice :)

Sorry been away from the laptop for a few days!

We have found a breeder who will have a litter in June which would be a perfect time for us (as now boyfriend is going to Canada for 6 weeks with work getting back in June and has a lot of time off after that!!)

I rang the breeder who seemed lovely and asked me lots of questions about my situation ect... and said she will put us on the waiting list for June (we're first on the list for a little boy) and we're going to visit her home and dogs to see temperment ect... in a few weeks :)

And we're currently looking at another block of apartments across the road from ours its on the bottom floor, bigger and has a small garden, so we're looking into that... be a lot easier to house train then

I would like to show this puppy so will be looking into going to some shows and have a look only been to a few before.

I am surprised that you say that Blue is not a breed standard. This is a quote from Kennel Club website, under Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Standard 'Colour
Red, fawn, white, black or blue, or any one of these colours with white. Any shade of brindle or any shade of brindle with white. Black and tan or liver colour highly undesirable.'

I think the main problem with Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeding is the amount of inbreeding and not the colour!

Hehe it's okay and how do you find that out?
They're all KC Registered the dogs and the female who's having the litter's sire is 'JOLSON'S BLUE BOY' which i have heard of. But i'm not sure about lines... is that what you mean?

Sorry i'm still learning everything :)

I have a blue Staffy myself, which is why I reacted to the poste re. blue not being a standard colour!!

Ask the breeder for a copy of both parent's pedigrees. A genuine/good breeder should have this readily available. You need to look through this for any repeated names, which indicates inbreeding.

It is hard to find Blues with little or no in-breeding or line breeding as the breeders like to call it!! My blue does have line breeding in her sixth generation on the dam's side, but nothing more recent than this and none on her sire's side. Our vet was very impressed!

Blues are not the easiest to show but there are one or two being shown.
The problem with blues is that the breed standard says black nose and it is genetically imposible for a blue to have a black nose. Now if the dog is so good else where the nose colour may be for given.
Please make sure both parents are tested or genetically clear for L2Hga and HC and both parents have up to date eye test certificates for PHPV this is really important. All health information should be on either their pedigree or separate cetificates for eye test.
If you get the KC name of the parents you can do a health status check at te following link.

    No it doesn't,
Inbreeding is no longer allowed by the KC,but inbreeding in staffords wasn't common anyway.

Line breeding is done to keep breed type and consistancy,my dogs are all line bred, they are all tested clear.

Jadey, you should see the health screening results on the Parents KC certificates, or copies of the test certificates from the AHT for L2/HC and eye certificates.

Example certificates can be seen on this link http://www.staffords.co.uk/ex_certs.htm
