If I wanted a pet quality Stafford then I think 300 is a reasonable limit and should get you a good pet but that is just MY limit and what I see fit to pay that’s all, different strokes for different folks. I feel that Staffords are ten a penny these days not to mention the abundance of them in rescue centres, sure these may not make great show etc dogs but as pets I am sure they do just fine, a lot of good Staffords are around but are overlooked for the “rare blue dogs” or “Irish” that go for huge amounts of money just to line the breeders pockets. I think the market is huge at the moment and a lot of people get ripped off to be completely honest. If I wanted a dog from specific lines or was offered a pup from parents I liked or a breeder I trusted then yeah I would perhaps pay over the odds and obviously if somebody is looking for a show etc dog then that’s a different kettle of fish….that’s jmo. I stick by what I said about blues and all the other colours that are in vogue, I think its disgusting taht somebody should sell half a litter for say £400 and the other half for £800 because they are a different colour..

thats in a perfect world but as long as there is a demand for certin colours people will allways exploit that, and as long as people pay the money that is what will happen. you said if you wanted a dog from specific lines or breeder you would pay over the odds thats what people do if they want a blue dog for example ,and if the dogs are going for over the price then thats their decision if they want to pay it.

Laura I agree with you. A pet quality stafford I wouldn't really pay more then £350-400 for. Staffords from a good breeder are selling anywhere from £400-£600 a piece these days. I have spoken to well known kennels and this seems to be the going rate for a good, well bred KC registered staff.

The world has gone completely off it's trolley IrishEyes. I saw somewhere someone selling a non-kc registered 'blue' staffy bitch for £500

Most people are in it just to make a quick buck and they know that there are people out there gullable enought to buy one for that price too

Well, personally id sooner pay £??? what ever for a good quality "irish staff" before parting with a shilling for a Kc registered one...does Kc papers make them better...?...no way :?

Well I agree with you on that score, I dont think that having any type of registration guarantees a good dog or makes it worth more than the next, its the dog that makes the papers and not the papers that make a dog.
