No - they are bigger. I`ve had GSDs for 40 years and my first one would look tiny now. I don`t like it, personally. I think it puts too much strain on the frame.

I think you'll find she'll probably stay that weight, just like Zena did from that age. Very weird I thought considering they're still growing, but I'll be interested to see if Esme does.

I'm now going to take mine down to the vets tomorrow and pop her on the scales, she is 6 months old and big framed so it should be interesting to see how much she weighs.... I would volunteer to stand on the scales with her, but think I might do myself an injury doing it that way!

Hannah is 28 kilos & Boyo is 31, When I got him he was 22 & then I overcompensated & he went up to 35. Stomach upset & down to 27 now he is 30 & Id like just 2 more on perhaps but he is about right, my dogs in the 50's were a lot bigger. Not sure of their weights.

Ella is comeing up for 3, consistently weighed 36kg, which seems a lot as she doesn't look that big. Can easily feel ribs/spine.

Following a dose of steroids, I was surprised to find that she'd shot up to 38 kg, she was absolutely solid though and didn't look overweight. People are suprised by her weight when she's seen next to the other 2. (brought her weight back down gradually)

Bear (2year old) is 33kg. Looks a lot bigger until you feel him and realise it's his long coat. Looks too skinny (imo) when he's wet.

Locky stays just above 36kg (11 year old gsd/husky x). He looks a bit thin at the back end, but it's probably better for him at his age to keep his weight there.

Anton's quite a big boy, he's 42kg but not overweight - we can feel his ribs without much trouble and he has a waist. The vet said he was spot on when he looked at him.

Cannot remember Anton's height, but I seem to recall him being over the breed standard by a small amount (I think he's between 26 and 28 inches). I'll have to measure him again once I find something to do it with.

Here are some pictures of him from a couple of months ago, though:

Zane is way oversized (according to the breed standard) standing at 104cm atw. He weighs 58Kg at the moment and is quite lean. I can'r always see his ribs unless he turns but they can easily be felt.
He is very long legged and big boned anyway though and is just 3 years old.

Yiannis is of a different body type altogether. He is more like the lower, more bulky GSDs. He stands at 68cm atw and weighs 39Kg. He has well definted muscles in his back legs and what look like enormous, very powerful shoulders (almost like Spike in the Tom & Jerry cartoons). Yiannis was 2 years old at the end of October.

Jenzi is just 12 months old and weighs 26 Kg. She's a little bit bigger than I'd like as she has severe HD and I have to make sure hse's on the skinny side of slim. Fortunately, her recent gain in weight hasn't caused any problems according to the vet so I'll keep her as she is for now whilst she's growing up. She stands at about 58cm atw and seems to be quite a small bitch - although next to Yiannis and particularly Zane, every dog looks small.

I mentioned this ages ago and people disagreed but to me nearly all the heavier coated ones I have seen in 'the fur' have been bigger, bigger boned looking dogs, in fact I would say all but one have fitted that description, in my experience.
