It's a major reason I wish we could have it as mandatory so that the vast majority of the population would have it. That would really help to protect those that can't have it for medical reasons

This is ridiculous. The Jerusalem Post said 100,000 doses arrived this morning. Now both The Times of Israel and Israel Hayom have stated that the amount flown in was 3,000-4,000.

So your guess is as good as mine as to which is the correct amount.

So far Arutz Sheva, another English language online newpaper has not stated anything about how many doses have arrived, but quote The Guardian as saying:

"The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the UK’s equivalent to the FDA, is now advising the national healthcare system that: “Any person with a history of a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food (such as a previous history of anaphylactoid reaction or those who have been advised to carry an adrenaline autoinjector) should not receive the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.

“Resuscitation facilities should be available at all times for all vaccinations. Vaccination should only be carried out in facilities where resuscitation measures are available.”

I feel like these vaccines have been rushed through the testing and regulatory process. That is why I will stand on the sidelines while waiting and watching to see what side effects and complications arise once these vaccines are given to more people over a longer period of time. I don’t want to be a lab rat, or end up with life long complications. I can wait, summertime or maybe even into the fall.

I should think that I'll be having it by spring, Marc - maybe before.

I'll give you a blow by blow account of what it's like and keep you updated. Of course, very long term effects I can't help you with, but I can let you know what it's like in the shorter term

I just give up with some people. It was announced that London, and large areas of Hertfordshire and Essex are going into Tier 3, and someone immediately posted on a general discussion board that I was a member of that they were not going to take any notice as they have already been stuck at home twice this year for a couple of months, only being allowed to go out for food and exercise, and nobody in their right mind should have to do it again.

So after someone else had said that everyone should ignore all restrictions "because only old people die and nobody cares about them", one person, who is in her late 60s said she wanted to live to see her grandchildren again, I - possibly stupidly - said that I had already not left my home for nearly ten months and was quite prepared to carry on following regulations until it was announced that it was safe to do otherwise.

And I got flamed. Called a stupid old woman who did not deserve to live, and did I not know that the virus is not real, just made up by the Governments etc - and that old people should not be given any vaccine "even if it is real" because it is a waste of money. At least the usual "it contains a microchip to control everyone" was not thrown about this time, although of course "only idiots wear masks because they do not work" was brought in once again. Needless to say I have resigned from that board.

We came out of the first lockdown too quickly. And the figures escalated so we were put into a second lockdown. And so the figures escalated again - we are now having over 2,000 new confirmed cases every day, with some days the figures being 2,500 plus.

I am staying in because I am not prepared to die unnecessarily before it is my time. I cannot have the vaccine in any case, whether I want it or not.

Juli, we are seeing the same pattern here. Lockdown, numbers down. Open up and off it goes again.

People in London in particular are being incredibly stupid as are our Government if they carry on with the 5 day Christmas break where the virus will spread like wildfire unchecked.

Like you, I am sick to death of folk who imply that the elderly don't matter. Of course they do. You can't write off anything up to 30 plus years of life, just because 'well they are old anyway'.

If our youngsters were the ones at high risk from this virus, you can bet your bottom dollar that the elderly would do everything in their power to help stop them getting it. What a pity that our youngsters don't feel the same way :(

I had to check the date when I read about that, Vee - knocking on peoples doors to ask questions and then say they must have that notice on display? I mean how dare they do such a thing?

Just look at these figures, and remember how small Israel is compared to the UK.

    Confirmed cases per million population:

    UK.......27,476
    Israel...39,173

We had a very few cases on the Moshav, in maybe just 2 or 3 places. Nothing since B"H. Now there are new cases on three close Moshavim, one of which is sort of adjoining, the other two either side of the roads each end. Ashqelon, which had been badly affected had hardly any new cases for weeks, and now has clusters in quite a few districts.

Both Kiryat Malachi and Kiryat Gat, slightly further away but still fairly local, and smaller towns than Ashqelon, are the same. Just one or two cases but suddenly there are clusters again in both towns again.

And people who do not live in this country [they are mainly American with some British members] have the gall to have a go at me for taking precautions and looking after myself?

Who the heck do they think they are?

Ignore 'em Juli. I haven't visited a shop since February. First lockdown, I never went out the house/garden. This time we do go for a walk in a very secluded location daily to get Rosie out for a walk where we rarely see more than one or two people and we can get out of the way to give plenty of distance. The only risk we take is taking Gary his shopping. I wear a mask, a shield and gloves as the complex has been impacted by the virus.

If idiots can't see why I take precautions, more fool them. The virus is very, very real no matter how far they bury their heads in the sand

It is difficult Chris - I so rarely see anyone to talk to that my only connection with people is via my computer, so when I am attacked like that, even though it is only words on my monitor and the people thumping their keyboards do not know me or what my situation is, although I do not hide the fact that I live in Israel and am a chair user [because that should explain certain things that sometimes come up], it hurts.

It just takes one person to start then others pile in - and nobody seems to stop them.

Answering back is stupid, and to just stop posting is the coward's way out, so I deliberately said that I had no wish to get into any arguments therefore I was resigning, and I deleted my membership.

I'm sure there must be plenty of nicer groups around Juli. Just a case of finding them. I'm afraid the keyboard warriors often can't help themselves :(

I have plenty of those Chris, with all sorts of subjects chatted about - it was just on one place and it more or less came out of nowhere, and was started by the one person I would have last expected it from. And just blew up from there.

I keep well away from sites which allow politics and religion to be discussed, because I use my computer for pleasure, not over-the-top-serious discussions - I do not want to get involved in such things. I like places where all sorts of people can just chat - usually whoever runs it will start a subject, although anyone can if they want, and they usually end up going way off topic as well! And it is fun, which is very necessary at the moment.

I think its best to ignore some people on social media, the virus has brought out the loonies in our society. I think we all know someone who has died of this terrible virus which only serves to show how real and dangerous it is....
There are some peeps out there who believe the world is flat... hmmmm...

Charles had a call from the surgery yesterday. He is having his first Covid19 vaccination at 9.10am tomorrow. He says he is not at all nervous. They are using a local sports club building for the vaccination sessions.
I will let you have an update.

Sorry to have been a bit quiet lately. Death of a close friend, (not Covid).

Well, now we have a super strain of the virus. All other countries have stopped flights to enter the UK and the ferry ports are blocked because France won't accept our trucks. It seems other countries are taking this new strain far more seriously than some of the idiots that live here.

Hopefully, the bans on coming to the UK may make some think before they break the damned rules, but I doubt it :(

Charles had his first vaccination on Saturday. He says that the injection was painless, but his arm did ache for the following two days, (though not enough to stop him sleeping on it). On the third day he felt that he might be starting with a cold - but nothing developed. The good news is that Pfizer seem confident that their vaccine will be effective against the mutated form of the CV19 virus.
