Hi Tina, and thanks. I see you're a JRT fan, lol. Lovely little energy rockets, aren't they ? My little Katy, is only 50% JRT, so she's mostly more calm and laid back, but she does have her 'Terrier' moments, lol.
Yes as the saying goes --my dog's not spoiled i'm just well trained ! I was born into and grew up with the breed and have owned them for 50yrs +’ for me there was never really any other choice. Personally I prefer the modern GSD to the dogs of yesteryear. Sadly I lost Kyra in 2014 age 14 due to the dreaded DM, she was my first ‘rescue’ dog was 6mths and had been a stray and though we had a rocky start she turned out to be a real character and wonderful companion. Heiko I got from the council pound I wasn’t looking for another dog but by sheer fluke I came across him, he was 12mths and a handful, he’s 9 now and still has a few hang ups, but is just a big soppy at heart.
Sorry that you lost your Kyra to DM.... It is a terrible disorder. I remember my favorite dog in the world (the one I grew up with) slowly losing control of his hind quarters, and eventually dragging them behind . I was only nine at the time, and it was a terrible thing to watch. I couldn't comprehend, how my strong heroic friend and protector could change like that. Then one day I came home from school, and he was gone . I never even had the chance to say good bye. He was only ten, and I cried for days afterward. Aren't you glad you found Heiko (even though you weren't looking for another dog...) ? It seems that the dogs we were meant to share our lives with, just have a way of finding us, doesn't it .
Yes that's Mouse. He will be turning 3 later this month. The pic of his head is from around 18 months.
Mouse? LOL, gotta love that name (I had a kitty named Mouse some years ago). Does it suit his personality, or his size? Chuckle.... How are you finding life with a Mastiff?
When I was young parent got a Saint and always love giant breeds since them and had them till I was 21, met a English Mastiff then, got my first around 88 or 89 and have always had one or 2 since. Mouse size wise thinks he's the size of a mouse thought when he was weighed at little after 2.5yrs he was 205lbs, when he turns 3 going to weigh him again. He's generally quite as a mouse, if he barks you go see who is there. He's super protective of the grandkids and the wife since her stroke, past that he's a derp dog when I walk him and every kid in a mile or so knows him and he loves when they pet and love on him. http://www.forum.breedia.com/threads/mouse-pitures-from-today.16253/ The link is some pics of him.
To me Mouse looks like a Mastiff should look, and a very handsome young man. I went to a dog show a few years back, and they had a pair of Mastiffs, that looked like they were wearing their big brothers clothing (talk about loose skin). I had to do a double check, to make sure that they were not Neo's dyed fawn, lol. Elana
Hi Tina, They are adorable! What a beautiful little family Do you ever get any problems with male/male or female /female aggression? Elana
Not aggression as such but we do have the occasional fight which is normally over within seconds, its more growling at each other than fighting most of the time which is not to bad saying there are now 10 dogs in the house, my 6 JRT's - 2 GSD's - 1 Springer spaniel [police dog] & 1 Cocker/Springer [police dog]
Ten !!! Holy crow woman And here's me feeling like I'm losing my mind some days with only the three and my fish and bizillion birds. How? Why??? Or should I even ask..... I did notice a tiny little 'HELP' on the very bottom... Are those Canines holding you hostage? LOL.
Let me explain I have my brother & his GSD living with us & 3 of his work mates [my lodgers] & their 3 dogs [the 2 police dogs & the GSD X] living with us to. I only own 6 JRT's 3 cats, 4 giant rabbits & 4 fancy rats.
"I only own 6 JRT's 3 cats, 4 giant rabbits & 4 fancy rats....." Plus a crew of Cops and their K9's, along with.... You're a gal after my own heart, lol. Woman, you live in a flippin' zoo, I love it !!!
Never thought of it that way Did forget my 2 macaws & my 4 goldfish [I got meters & feet mixed up & ended up with a 2 meter fishtank for my 4 goldfish
LOL.... At least your Goldfish have loads of room to grow, and they will Macaws, are gorgeous birds. What colours are yours? I'm a Finch, Canary person myself, with my only Hookbills being two Budgies. Sounds like your home is happily barking and meowing, and squeeking and singing, and swimming and squawking....
