    Make sense ..
White boxers became a big no no in the German army after the 1st world war and they worked out they were highly visible .lol

My willow is a GSD x Akita. She is a cracking dog, great with other dogs and a fantastic stooge dog with DA dogs as she never reacts to them.

She was my daughters first dog, we got her when my daughter was 10, and she was responsible for training her etc (with a bit of help from Mum of course  ). She was a rescue and 7 months old who had never been outside of a 12 foot square garden that was concrete and had never even been on a lead or in a house, she was scared of everything - even grass

My daughter won many junior handling classes with her at companion shows and since she has gone to Uni, Willow has been handled by numerous beginners at training classes both for ringcraft and obedience. She is great with children and a really solid all round dog.

If I could get another Willow I would have one tomorrow

    Here she is

    Oh I missed this thread!

Yes as mentioned by others, my Cain is one. Personally I think it's a ridiculous cross and I knew full well that we'd have our hands full when he arrived. He was bred by some silly BYB to get money as these sorts of crosses are fashionable. Unfortunately he came from poor stock and appears to have inherited many of the undesirable traits of each breed! Which is why I really don't like this designer cross fad, people spend years breeding for a particular temperment then others go and gamble it all to get a cute cross

Now do get me wrong, I love mutts and I love Cain, I just don't think this cross should be actively encouraged. Both breeds can be a handful and dodgy crosses like Cain are not a good idea. Cain had a rocky start and we're trying to turn him around but sadly I do suspect that part of his behaviour is genetic and will never change. It does create a very big strong dog too.

Incidently he's a total sweetheart with people he knows and he is hilarious, and very good looking (attracts a lot of attention in the street!). And yes GSD can be black, Cain's dad was a black GSD.

Basically I'm sure there are wonderful GSD x Akitas and slightly dodgy ones too, depending on the individual and while I own and love one, I'd hate to see this cross become popular

    Here's my monster :)

my neighbour had one, unfotunately it bit me once, didn't break the skin but had one hell of a bruise and left me with broken veins.
    He also bit another neighbour.
    Not a nice doggie...

Off-topic I know but I didn't realise black GSDs were ok to be shown. I thought it was just the black and tan ones could be shown (or do they call it sable?).

Don't they all look so totally different! Willow is so pretty, the White GSD is very apparent. Kendo is stunning (and looks like such a softy!) and I can clearly see dark coloured American Akita in him. I still have never worked out which type of Akita Cain has in him.

You can show any colour, there are far more black and tans about than any other colour, sables do win but they are fewer and far between and both they and the blacks and bi colours tend to be less flashy and often found in working lines more.

Wildmoor may shoot me down now, as she has far more knowledge than I do.

EG in Germany many colours can and do pass the korung (suitability for breeding test)

I had one, he was big but brilliant xx He was quite a dominant boy tho even after neutering and extremeley energetic. He sadly escaped and got run over while I was on holiday 5 years ago but I still miss him every day - he had such a zest for life

Here he is my Simba - :022:
