hi - thanks - oh he is a beauty - such a handsome boy - my first GSD and boy did we do it in stye lol - unfortunately he also thinks he is a lapdog @ 35Kg and growing - we have a little sister for him too - a little 6 month Northern inuit - is double trouble - how on earth do you cope??
LOL - Lots and lots of training, socialising with people & dogs, noises, different environments, more training, play times individually and together, more training etc. And then I add my Lurcher into the mix - so yep - complete chaos but so much fun! Any piccies of your pups? Here are some of mine. Jaikei (my GSD/GSDx - 1996/7-29/11/2004 RIP) Tashi (my Lurcher - 17 months old) Jenzi (sable GSD - 17 months old) Yiannis (B&T GSD - 2 1/2 years old) Zane (B&T GSD - 3 1/2 years old) Jenzi & Yiannis playing Zane (my favourite piccie of him right now) Zane also thinks he's a lap dog and at 105cm atw, and weighing 59Kg he is a bit of a big lump to have on my lap. There have been occasions when I've fallen asleep watching TV, on teh sofa only to wake up with Zane lying full length on top of me. I'm surpriswed I haven't suffocated before now!
Well your Jenzi looks identical to our little Inuit - same face markings etc - they are bred with GSD's so a little of the same look - so alike with Jenzi though it's uncanny - we have only just joined really so don't know how to put on pics or even the little one that shows with your name on the thread Your dogs look fantastic - looks like you must live in the garden as they probably don't leave you any sofa space I lost my lurcher in November to cushings disease - so I know what an amazing nature they have - very very loving are lurchers
Yes I didn't realise just how loving and gentle Lurchers were until I had Tashi. She's also taught me what a complete fruit loop they are too! Jenzi is very dark at the front and I do get children at times ask if she's a wolf. I'm tempted to say yes occasionally. To put photos on here, you neede an account (completely free) from a site such as photobucket (www.photobucket.com). It allows you to upload photos onto there. Once you have done that, you copy the link of the photo you wish to share then click on the "insert Image" button at the top of the box you type in to add a post. It should ask you to type in teh URL so you paste the link into the boc, click OK and your picture should be there. It sounds difficult to begin with but once you've done it a couple of times it's quite easy.
I don't live in the garden as such but in the evening, particularly if my Son, Oscar is sitting onthe sofa there's not usualyl any room for me so I end up sittign ont eh dining chairs until Oscar goes to bed. I can easily move the dogs off the furniture. They don't grumble about it and will move immediately. Once I've sat down they all then get back up on the sofas where there is space. The problem I then have is that if I move to answer the phone (assuming it's not ont he base and Zane doesn't fetch it for me), or go to the bathroom for example, Jenzi will always get up into my space.
I don't think it worked :-( all I can are crosses - I just showed Jenzi's pics to my partner and he is amazed - they are identical to my Inuit
My little rescue dog was 'roughed up' by a GSD twice, whilst out walking(she was on lead) not long after bringing her home. I never blamed the dog and oddly enough there were several incidents with the owner(and dog) which learned of soon afterwards, they dissapeared from that particular walking spot. However and am very pleased to say, we walk quite often with a lady and very handsome young GSD and the dogs get along fine, pleased to see and are good buddies. Other dog walkers(usually with small breeds)however will turn around and walk the other way, maybe they've had a bad experience too n we've been fortunate enough to meet a sensible owner and not be so tense. It's good!
I've had this with Ruby when Ive taken her to pick the kids up from school. I never take her in the yard as dogs arent allowed. A teaching assistant was walking her 2 kids home & saw us with Ruby, my kids giving her strokes & she was jumping up at them to kiss them as they came out of school. Her daughter was cowering & she also looked very nervous...I said aww dont worry she is such a softy..Her reply was 'No we dont think so, my daughter was attacked by one of these in the park a few weeks ago, theyre vicious dogs' I said 'what, a labrador? you are having a laugh?' I was never very subtle she didnt look impressed, hurried past & has never spoken to me again
Use img tags - type "img" (don't type the inverted commas) in square brackets, then type th url of the image, then type "/img" in the suare brackets. The url you used for one pic was: http://http//i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h429/adeleyvonne2003/bearIndigo-garden043.jpg you need to delete the part in red. Alternatively, photobucket images have a menu: im/e-mail, direct link, HTML code, and Image code. Click in the box for the image code (this copies it to your clipboard), then on your dogsey post, right click and paste. Hope that helps. Michael
Aaawwwww Adele they're gorgeous. bet your Inuit doesn't look like that anymore! ;-) More piccies please. Michael, your sable GSD looks the same as Jenzi. In fact, it seems to me that all of the short haired sable GSDs I've seen posted on Dogsey look the same. I love the piccie of her on top of your other dog.
