    Luke

Luke is a rescue dog, but is a full breed. He is on the larger size of the males in height, and currently weighs 43kg.

A fantastic family companion. He needed a firm, but kind hand at first after adoption, but is a truly very special boy.

This is more like it! Pictures of beautiful dogs, Wolfie your Shaan is just gorgeous! Here are my two babies Cassie and Georgie. Cassie is 9 now and I have had her from a pup. Georgie I rescued with a terrible skin condition 6 months ago, but he doesn't look like it now! I've always had shepherds all my life, and always the long-coats as I think they are soooo pretty!

Thanks Gems. Yes they do! Georgie has a horrendously thick coat and I'm always stopping on our morning walks to give him a good combe through and I leave a nice white carpet all over the green field. Cassie has a much softer silkier finer coat, so she just gets a brush. They are always hosed underneath and legs when we get back, especially if it's raining - you can just imagine what George comes home like. By choice I would not have had a white, but I rescued him. He is my first ever rescue one and I will definitely do it again. I couldn't wish for better if I had brought him up from a pup myself, he is such a good boy in all respects - now! I had a bit of a socialisation problem with him at first as he thought everyone was the enemy when we were out - he has soon learnt though, and Cassie is always telling him off - typical female hey?!:)

all lovely dogs, great pics everyone...I like the long coats too...I also like the solid black and white ones even though they are considered a fault.

here in sweden it's allowed to show longhaired gsd as long as they got the undercoat (wouldn't denmark have the same rules?). And it's wierd that you say that longhair can't have a pedigree since long/semi haired gsd are born in shorthaired litters aswell.

But a lot of "breeders" do breed on longhair without pedigree just for the money

    Hi

My friend has a longhaired (or semilonghaired anyway) and Bella HAS a pedigree (and she was in a mixed litter of long and shorthaired), but her litters (if she is bred) cant get pedigrees.... That's the rules in Denmark. Dont know thaat much, as I own a labrador myself.

But I will tell you, if I was ever to have a GSD myself, it would be a longhaired....

Hi everyone, I know you cannot show the longcoats here in the UK as they are classed as "throw outs" of the litters, but I'm sure people do breed from the longcoats although the litters produced will not all be longcoats, as I had one from a litter before who ended up with a shortcoat even though Mum and Dad were both long. Both my dogs have full pedigrees, even though they are longcoated? I'm sure if I had wanted to I could have bred from my bitch Cassie and the KC would have issued me with certificates for the pups as she has one? Somebody has said on here (Wolfie?) that the whites are undesirable, any idea why please? Would it be because they are prone to skin disorders as that's what mine had? Just as a matter of interest please.:)

as I understand, it's cause they should have a coat that can be used like a camouflage, and of course, a white dog is easy to spot (not on snow though)

Thanks SheWolf, that sounds logical! I said he looked like a polar bear, so he's obviously living in the wrong place! :)
