White factoring is a unbroken white line from chin to hind toes. so the back on the legs does not meet anywhere underneath (legs or belly) & break up the white. Usually they have alot more white on them than this bitch. Just got to be abit careful putting two white factored dogs together if you dont want white pups or mismarks. My darkest bitch tata was white factored, the other 3 arent (though they all have much flashier markings)
Skye was bred in Wales.......everyone say 'Oh isn't she small' But I wouldn't have her any other way. Reah was Bred in Lincolnshire and she is a much bigger build, Bruce 14 weeks is alot bigger than Skye was at his age......he has a Birmingham Mom and a Welsh Dad?????
Hi steve, Sky looks very much like a dog belonging to a friend of mine and she was from wales from working parents? Did you have her from a pup or is she a rescue? ooops just read your profile and realised you are actually a she, sorry LOL
Hi Mishflynn, Yes one of my dogs is a Wizinby - Cayley our 5 month old pup. her KC name is Wizinby Limelight at Elahraiarah. Jo who bred her is really nice and wonderfully supportive. Cayley is such a wonderful little lass and I am over the moon with her ! My other BC is 5 years old and was a farm bred BC so I dont have any papers for him - but know his mum was a Sable and White and Dad was Black and White. I met both parents and was very lucky with him as he has a wonderful nature and loves everyone!! I decided to get Cayley from show stock as I used to show my Weimaraner years ago and wanted to have another go. My 8 year old daughter is hoping to do handling with her too when she is older. Plus I was very impressed with all the health checks that Jo carries out and know that cayley is clear by parentage from TNS, CEA and cPRA and CL, plus her mum and dad have low Hip scores also. I am not interested in breeding and have no intention (i leave that to people who know what they are doing ! ) but its so nice to know that hopefully she will have as happy and healthy life as possible. Sorry for waffling on - I am just smitten with her she is such a little star bye for now
Yes had Skye since a pup ( 9weeks) she comes from working breed and we had her from a farm on the way to Llandundo, we have been repeatedly asked to work her by a chap who has sheep in Warwickshire, but being aware that Skye has a 'high herding' instinct, we are probally not going to persue, as UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE NO SHEEP HERE
sounds possible, how old is she? My friends dog was 3 last november? I can't remember her registered name or I would look her up on anadune
When we got Skye we were going on holiday to Llandundo the breeder said that we could go and look at the pups, then pick her up on our way back. We thought Great....except that when we got there he changed his mind and said we'd have to take her!!!!! Anyway the farm was on the A40 and the farm is owned by Mr James, Gwerngwinnaw, Cynghordy Nr.Llandovery. We did a right DOGS LEG travelling to get her, but when we got there he had around 15 pups, (obviously this was a business) and we were a little shocked. He had merles,tan/wht,blk/wht and tri. I didn't pick Skye (in fact I didn't even look at her) she PICKED ME..................and I've never looked back. She is two on the 8th of June, two days after mine. So much travelling (by the time we got on hols we were exhausted and we had a new pup for a weeks hols too. But I am so glad she chose me....she's a star
Sorry should of said he had 5 working bitches, which he owned up to mating regular (rota system ...I think) as selling pups obviously brought in money too. A clean place, nothing wrong with it, but still felt that it was kinda puppy farming.....
I believe I know the one you mean, he has a sign at the end of the driveway advertising the pups? Is it just outside abergavenny? There are some from there in agility, I know of a black tri, a red tri and a sable but they are all smooth coated.
I think it maybe the same place from your description, as I said the place was lovely and clean and I couldn't of faulted it, but we were just a little shocked to see so many pups, as on the telephone it just sounded like his working bitch had, had pups. I even checked out the horses as we were waiting (he was dealing with someone else) and they were in 'TOP' condition. He took us outside to show us mom.....couldn't see her...as she was working way and beyond!!! across the fields, but each BATCH of pups were separated (depending on which bitch they belonged to) and Skyes father named Tegwyn, was owned by a farmer further along the A40/a dog which he had apparantly used before!! He had all the pups 1st vaccinated (which we had a card for) at 7 weeks and I just had to get her vaccinated again and he had them wormed....so we couldn't pick any faults....I think it was just because there were so many. I've seen him advertise regular since so it is a business. Skye is extremely good at agility, and has 'high herding instinct' she's very very on the ball, and as long as stimulation mentality and physically is going on (which we do every day) she is a very good dog.....very alert and motivated.......a real good dog. How spooky, but pleased to know of someone who knows where she comes from.....is it in the area where your from then???? I have been asked by other but they don't know the area, and some people have asked about getting one, but say they have never owned a BC, in which case I normally say 'well you won't want one like her as a first because of her speed and motivation to do things, she would be high drive for you lol lol
No I don't live in that area but I have passed his place a couple of times on the way through to brecon. I wouldn't recommend one of his as a first either as the three I know are tough as old boots and never get tired perfect for agility though
Thats definately Skye, tough, never tires, and so quick on the ball that it's like lightening before your eyes. If ever a dog shifts like s*** off a shovel it's her. we've been out for a huge walk today, but she will be ready again by 8pm
I took mine out for about 4 miles this afternoon across country, they do a lot more as they never stop running around....... 5 minutes after I got home I took the rubbish out and sol was straight there and waiting at the gate to go again Kel and deef came and looked and then just went back to bed while sol did left and right turns in front of me as I walked to the bin, he then ran flat out back to the front door and tried to stop me getting in If I had picked up the leads they would all have gone out again but sol was the only one asking He is a complete nut, but he does have an off switch which helps! Deef can out accelerate my friends deer hound cross but he is a big collie standing 23" at the shoulder, Sol is only 19 1/2" and he can get in front of deef so s*** off a shovel would be a good description for him too especially as I call him little s*** or s*** monster I am just now starting to see some of that speed on the equipment, he has never been slow but yesterday even my trainer was surprised. He has gone up a gear every week for the last three weeks and I have no hope of ever keeping up with him so if you ever see us at a show I will be the one running as fast as my fat little legs will take me shouting directions at a brown merley blur going at about mach 3 and he likes to shout back at me at the same time My own fault really, I was told not to have a merle!
Tracey (queenwillow) has two Merles, thats who we have been with today over Sutton Park, Dylan and willow are energetic too, esp Dylan........... Skye can shift believe me, I seen dogs try to out-run her, but no chance....including a greyhound. Like yours she just takes it in her stride and speeds up, leaving them behind. She has a wonderful swerve too with out manouvers them
My two toerags are definitely smaller than my first BC boy, Glen. Kali and Snorri are both Orkney farm born, but as Glen was a rescue, I have no idea where he came from (probably somewhere in the Lothians). Last time I measured him (years back), Kali was 21" at the shoulder. Snorri is, perhaps, FRACTIONALLY taller, but he is less chunky and may merely look taller: I haven't measured him (he runs away from the terrifying collie-eating tape measure). The Brothers Cool relax in their domain Snorri
They are beautiful Skye measures a 'tiny' 18 inches to the shoulder, Reah is 21 inches, bigger built too and little Bruce who is 14 weeks 13 inches ......so Skye is small
merles are definitely not the same as the other colours but in a good way I think the whole keeping in front of another dog is just a collies sheer bloody minded determination to get in front as they do seem to have that in bucket load, helps when herding sheep I would think! If I get in front of any of them on a course they race me and all I can hear is this burbled high pitched sort of a screech behind me which is as much of a bark as that combination of speed and excitement will allow
