Hi there I am new to the forum. I own Ruwhaar Dutch Herders (The Rough Coat variety). I believe there are currently three in the UK, my two and a female puppy. My female was brought into the UK as a puppy from the Netherlands and my male was brought in as an adult last year. My female is due to have a litter in mid May and we are hoping to have them FCI registered. I have never owned a short coat but from what I have seen in sport etc. the rough coat is less driven than the short coat although still with sufficient drive and ability to work. I have found them very easy dogs to live with and a joy to own.
Okay, so the AKC doesn’t recognise the Dutch Shepherd. I was given a young wild dog. His DNA came back 100% GSD. He looks absolutely like a Dutch Shepherd. Is there a chance the DNA standards haven’t been fine tuned enough to tell the difference?
