I dont think hes a lab x golden retriever, Im a puppy walker and go to classes which are full of them as well as having one on my left foot as I type lol

I actually saw Gold Ret x staffie as in one of the pics where your pup is looking up with his mouth open he has that wide mouth look with the wrinkles of skin either side like a staff does. The combination of a fluffier breed together with a very short haired breed would also make the hair round the back of his legs and his ears look a bit tufty at this age too.

    He is luffly though :D

Hi every1 thanks a lot for all your suggestions we are happy with what you have said and we will now tell you what we have been told:

Previous owners - told us he was a Labrador cross Husky which we thought too by the look of his eyes so thanks for saying that.

everybody in the park - numerous people said he looked like a labrador cross golden retriever which we are happy about

the vet - said he is a little big to be just lab/goldie/husky and thinks mabe hes got some giant -ish breed in him as well as them, like a rottie which we are a little concerned about as we dont really like rotties. but he did say he can see the husky in his eyes and face

and endless people say he is def a labrador cross golden retriever but with somethin else but they just cant tell what it is.

So thanks every1 for your help, but if he has got terrier or rottie in him does any1 know if this can make hm aggressive or if it can be a bad thing or a good thing?

As we think hes been neglected and possibly hit in the past hes very nervous and tends to just want to be fussed alot but sometimes he barks and growls until we stroke him, so we have to put him outside until he stops then we bring him in and hes fine, does any1 have any idea if this is the rottie in him. ( we think hes been hit because when somebody new goes to stroke him he cowers and pulls away but after a minute hes fine)

Also he sleeps alot and doesnt really like playing with toys just likes to be fussed, thanks again for your help.

I would have said Lab or Golden x Husky - I know 2 dogs from a litter of Lab X Husky and your puppy looks a lot like one of them.

For what its worth, I'm not seeing any Rottie in the mix at all.

Sorry, I don't have a photo. They are dogs we meet in the park - litter brothers. If I see them soon, I'll try and get a photo. And they're not puppies anymore...they're about 3 years old now although I've known them since they were pups.

One is very like your pup - yellow coloured like a Lab but with more of a husky shaped body. The other has the build of a Lab but with husky colouring and markings. They look so different, you'd never guess they were brothers!

    Good luck with your puppy.

Looks like some labrador/retriever in him and possibly some collie (looking at the ears).

lots of puppies bark & growl to gain attention, it isnt a breed thing. I wouldnt punish him for it by putting him outside. Instead redirect it or distract him. Keep some foodie treats handy, mild cheeese cubes & ask him to sit or give his paw, whatever he knows to do. Make a fuss of him & then say, "enough", if he continues to bark or growl, walk away to another room, ignore him. Worst you can do is ignoring them. They soon learn. Five mins of ignoring at this age is enough. Behave as if nothing happened.

When you or friends reach out to stroke him, where are you reaching for? Many people go automatically for the head/neck area, if hes been treated roughly in

the past he may have been grabbed by his scruff & dragged about or children may have hung onto his ears. Dogs ears are very sensitive. Instead hold your hand out, allow him to sniff it, then gently reach under his chin & touch him lightly there, round the cheek, under his ears, then down the back of his neck, encourage friends to do the same. Give a foodie reward for being good.

Our girl we lost last week (RIP) never liked her head being touched as a pup, she too was a rescue.
When relaxing you can work your way up towards the head making gentle circular motions with palm, tell him how good he is. I wouldnt force the issue just take it as it comes.

Pups do sleep a lot, like babies, they are continually growing & need lots if sleep. They waken, feed, toilet, play & sleep! Sounds as if he was never played with in his previous home. At 5 months he is very trainable - give a variety of toys, he will choose one himself. Our boy is very squeaky toy orientated & our girl rarely
goes anywhere without a ball. Theyre all different.

Rotts can sometimes get a lot of bad press, i know a few who are softer than gentlest spaniel. Treat your boy as "himself",
look forward to more photos & hearing how he does

Don't be concerned if you do think your puphas rottie in him. We had one near us a big male and he was gentle as a lamb. He was owned by a lady (who was not young or strong) and she said that she would trust him with her life and had had him since a pup. When I knew him he was quite old, and it was a real pleasure to see him with this lady, gently going round the fields together - they were certainly devoted to each other.

I would have said Lab X white long coated GSD or Maybe Malamute instead of husky? Would account for the larger size and coat and ears. He's really cute! I doubt he has rottie in him. Rotti mixxes tend to have a specific look to them and i don't see any rotti traits in this guy at this point. Even so, Rotts are fab dogs!
