This is a photo of a Lab x Staffie (from a rescue site in Australia):
The puppies will look very similar - no long coats as pure-bred Staffies don't carry a gene for long hair (has to be on both sides).

A dog looking like the one above will almost certainly be viewed as "type" and have a difficult life ahead for its owners and itself.

I have to say if it was my dog that was pregnant, in view of the unwise mating re health and age of bitch & size difference.... and potential lives ahead of these puppies (rescue, police, seized, possible PTS, and/or ending up in the wrong hands etc) there would be no question about it - Mismate jab straight away!!

wow am i sick of these threads.. True or not.
..... What the puppies will look like is the VERY last thing that you should be worried about. Take a walk around a few rescue shelters, Im sure there will be many many many staff crosses similar to what the pups could look like, and if ya lucky maybe even the cross you have done

hear hear DD, same old, trying to take over threads..especially when the person making the silly comments has more to hide than most.. The worry most of us have is the poor bitch that might be pregnant and her health surely?

Ive only just seen this. Knowing her dog has urinary problems how on earth could she let this happen and let it continue? Has she tried to get the urinary problems treated/corrected?

Some types of urinary/kidney conditons are hereditary and on that basis alone this little bitch should not be bred from

The thoughts of the poor little girl trying to give birth to such huge puppies is quite frankly appalling, never mind the hereditary complications she may be passing on

    :022: :022: :022: :022:

Please be sensible and terminate this pregnancy......

Hear Hear but they seem to have vanished and hope they come back to see we are worried and want to help, if it is genuine.

Why wait for the scan to determine whether she is in whelp? Why not take her to the vets the morning after you found them tied and ask for the meds to terminate a possible pregnancy?...quite simple and a lot better for the bitch, then get your bitch speyed as soon as possible.

I'm sure those people waiting on a puppy are not too desperate for one...just imagine what they may be getting if both parents haven't been health checked?

am assuming this is a troll, but if not, then you are the worst kind of owner.
YOu have 2 dogs - one has already had cross pups, this one is a rescue and has only been with you a few months, is young and has urinary problems and yet you claim to have spoken to the vet regarding possible pregnancy - any vet worth his salt when told of the possible size issues would suggest the mismate jab.

Get a grip - take an hour walk round your local dogs home and then tell me its acceptable to breed more staffy cross pups.

You are very very selfish if you go ahead with this pregnancy

Haven't read all the posts, so apologies if this has been covered already.

As they're cross breeds, there is no way of telling how they will turnout either physicly or which breeds temperamental trates they could inherrit. You could end up with pups that have inherrited all the good trates of both, the worst trates of both, or anything in between. The same applies physicly, you could end up with anything basicly, including things you didn't expect.

"Or vise versa, a larger dog but with the features of a staff."

I'd be concerned about that combination of physical trates, as they may get classed as being of pitbull type under section 1 of the dda, and can be siezed and destroyed. I don't know how much you know of the dda, but don't think for one second, that the parents being 2 legal breeds would make a difference, as neither parent has to be a pitbull, the dog just has to look like one, according to the law, which is very vague, on what it classes as pitbull type.

Personally, if she does turn out to be pregnant, I'd terminate it, for the safety of the bitch if for nothing else.

Situations like this make me feel really sad for all the dogs in question, especially the mother and possible pups.

Staffie + Goldie = big bully type dogs....oh joy!

Ok, so can I ask.....are you completley out of your tree?
As soon as you knew she had mated, you should have had her straight down the vets to terminate. She could well die. If thats not enough of an incentive to do it then what the hell is. She is a rescue. She has bladder problems. She's a baby. Then you admit you planned to breed from her anyway. Well Im sooooo glad she'll help top up your income support from flogging her puppies. And what happens when people get fed up with these little bundles of cuteness and dump them in an already full of bull breeds rescue centre? Is this what they call the circle of life?

I agree Westie, it is very sad. Unfortunately, I don't think this person will take much notice of anyone. She didn't put up the topic asking for any advice, she was asking what the pups will likely look like. She is probably not responsible enough or aware enough to know what the consequences will likely be of this "accidental mating" (if that is what it really was). She sounded pleased about what had happened and when things go wrong the problems will have to be sorted out by others.

You really shouldn't have a goldfish, let alone a dog.

You have had so much good advice already on this thread, I suggest you take it and get your dog to the VET now. Yes, NOW, an emergency vet. I don't care how much it'll cost you, it's YOUR fault she's in this situation (if indeed she is).

    Then get her spayed ASAP.

If this is true, why do you want to breed from your bitch ?? She is a rescue with health problems who should be spayed(bitches do not have their"tube tied they have a full ovariohysterectomy- the ovaries & womb are removed)

You have a Rottweiler-is he castrated ? You have a Dalmatian is she entire too ??

Sounds to me like you are planning to do some designer dog prduction

I do hope that you are a WUM
