I am trying to organise a day to go up and see Heather, Dave and the Conbhairean dogs so will take lots of piccies.

I am still quite undecided about whether to definitely go for a workline pup, or go with showline for my next one and have the working pup a few years down the line when my son is a wee bit older. Ahh decisions decisions.

Hopefully I will get to meet all Heather's dogs and then pop into Stirling Schutzhund Club on the way back and chat to the working GSD folk. Just to confuse my decision even more

    *jealous*

I keep meaning to email Heather again as I never got a reply to my email, not that there is any rush...

I will look forward to seeing loads of pics! Sounds like you will have a great time! :D

A day of cuddling GSDs ... I will definitely have a fab time  Heather is a good friend of one of my good friends and so we are going to make a day out of it, and pop into the Schutzhund club on the way back to watch the working dogs in action :) Hopefully it will help make up my indecisive mind

It is a difficult one as I had really set my heart on a dark/black sable working line ... but I do love the Conbhairean dogs too. I will let you know

Do you have any recommendations of breeders that breed for half/half?

Krystnas GSDs did a show/work mix in 2008. The G litter.

Thank you both. I will have a look at both breeders as well. There are too many choices!

Do you want a male or a female?
Or does that depend on which lines you choose?

 Well I do prefer dogs as a general rule, but wouldn't rule out a bitch from either breeding if it were more suited to my lifestyle and circumstances

Mascani have a (work x show)litter at the moment - Mascani caprice x Neck von den Wolfen

I know probably a bit too soon though.

    Awesome :D

I wasn't sure and kept swaying between the two... but the more I have thought about it the more I would love another Male... but like you, if the "perfect" female came up, I wouldn't turn it down just for being a girl

Thanks Layla, but having looked at a few of the sites where the breeder has mixed show and workline, I don't think they are what I am looking for. I will most likely go for pure working lines I think, but be advised by the breeder as to which pup might suit my circumstances the best

with pure workline check the health test results in particular the elbows a lot dont do them or ignore the results anyhow - just remember they also have epilepsy, dwarfism etc in the lines they just tend to hush it up and are not as honest as what problems are in their lines

Really? So the showline dogs are more rigorously health tested in many respects? I will definitely ask to see proof of all the relevant health tests etc.

Had a brilliant day today with Heather and Dave and the Conbhairean GSDs. Without exception, every single dog, bitch and puppy in the kennel was absolutely gorgeous, happy for a fuss and cuddle and with a wonderful temperament. I was very impressed.

Working lines will have to keep for the future - as I am happy and confident that my next pup will be a Conbhairean :)

No they are not any more or less rigorously health tested than pet/show lines, as the Breed Supplements will demonstrate.
