GSD do seem to cause a good deal of misunderstanding.

A German Shepherd Dog is a German Shepherd dog no matter what you want to call it. Have been told that the long haired are the English ones, that white/cream are English and can’t be shown. That the GSD is the German Shepherd dog and the Alsatian is the English version of the German Shepherd Dog.

All total nonsense of course, some of the GSD people wish to split the breed into the Euro type and the English type because different judges have a preference as to which type they prefer. However if and until the KC agree to this call them what you like they are still German Shepherd Dogs no matter what shape the back, how long the coat or what colour.
