Terry's dog wasn't he called Zulu? terry now therewas a legend I remember my other half laying TD tracks at a trial he was judging it sticks in my mind a 22/24 leg xmas tree!
still working my lab x (WD this weekend), however i often think about what my next dog would be and keep coming up with either collie (waagerland) gsd or mali. Was at a Tony Lockyer seminar last weekend and he has a cracking GSD - looks like theres mali in it
No there is no Mali in Tony's GSD it was bred by Vreli (Freddie) Middleton. Mike Snow breeds very good dogs both BC and WSD and his breeding has been successful in WT, obedience and agility.
I remember reading about a pitbull called Bandog dread or something like that being a top working dog in the states .. Do many people use pitbull in the states???
I was told that a lot of people don't like using bull breeds because they don't like or think that bite work on people should be done with them (I think because of how they were first bred, and how they shouldn't really bite people) but I've seen vids of some doing great, I was also talking to someone a few years ago about how if I ever got another EBT I'd like to see what they could do, which is when I got told about how people don't like it, and that I might find difficulty getting someone to help me with the breed, nor sure entirely whether thats 100% true, but this person breed amazing GSD's in the states and competed with them, and tbh I've not really looked into it for a while, I'd love a Mal, but am happy with my hounds right now.
PD is an OPTIONAL stake in Working Trials. In the USA there are tracking only titles eg TD and TDex which are different to those over here, ie they are only tracking and do not include agility or obedience. There are lots of people in various breeds who do not believe bitework is suitable eg labradors etc. That is because they have no idea about the sport and think that bitework makes dogs vicious! You won't find anyone refusing to help you with a breed, you might find someone refusing because they think that the dog you have at the end of the lead is not suitable for reasons OTHER than being of a particular breed. Hey ho.
What does all this mean .lol Bandog Dread SchH III, IPO III, TD, CD, U-CDX, WDS, STD-d, STD-s, WH, B, Ch.
Schutzhund Level 3 (top one for Schutzhund it goes 1, 2 and 3) IPO = same as Schutzhund, just teeny differences in procedure. TD is tracking title (advanced is TDex) in the US CD = companion dog title UDex Utility Dog excellent Do not know what the others are
We have had people mention to us recently about working trials with bavarians. Working trials something I know much about tbh.
I suspect that they would have no issues with the nosework but, like some other breeds, be a little more challenging on the obedience side. Having spent last Sunday with quite a few, I am not sure their height x length ratio makes them good candidates for the long jump.
Getting tight healwork would take a lot of time and patience with a BMH, but if you had a hound that had some drive and a handler with enthusiasm i imagine it possible. OT: sunday was a good day and was glad it was well recieved
TBH i dont know much about the breed, i just know that there is a FANTASTIC bmh on the agility circuit.
