Here you go, the results for Boxers at the LKA

    http://www.highampress.co.uk/lka/boxers.asp?show=LKA 2009&ttl=LKA 2009%20-%20Boxer

As regards types, its a bit difficult to explain.

There is only one breed standard, but different lines will give you a slightly different type, you will see what we call the big old fashioned English type, big solid looking dogs with good round heads. then we have the continental (which is popular ) and due to imports, you will also now see this type, then the smaller delicate type... but all judged to the same standard, and depending on what the judge likes, will do well or not..so a little like CC and types, but not as obvious.

Its good you can see a type dog, so decide what you like, best way to do that is to watch as much as you can, and study breeders web pages.

Here's a good tip for you, if you are serious about the breed.

Send for the "Boxer Quarterly" PM me and I will give you the address.

This comes in quarterly installments over the yr.

It will feature many of the top winning kennels, also articles about the breed and health update, it will also feature kennels and types from around the world, you may even be able to get a back log of this yrs to go over.. there is a feature at "attibox" ( a yearly Boxer event, that takes place in a different Country every yr) this issue and the last , have had an excellent article in, where their have been a lesson on "heads" and how to understand a good one.

Interesting enough , the same exersice was sent to the US, and even they picked the same head as the best example ( they have a completely different type to us) and the winner that was unanimously picked, was one of Mary Hambletons.... (Marbelton)

Well worth a read for nay Boxer enthusiasts, and a good educational lesson on heads!!

    No idea re LKA, sorry!

There aren't really 'types' in Boxers, I don't think, not that are recognised. Obviously, you get the colour variations (red & brindle - and variations on that), and you will get slight size/weight variations.

E.g. My boys are from the same parents, yet Max is slightly leggier and very skinny (taller than breed standard), whereas Murphy is MUCH chunkier (over a stone more than Max) and bob-on breed standard for height.

It very much depends on the breeding I think. Their mum is a very small, slight Boxer, and their dad is a hulking brute of a dog

What kind of variations were you thinking about?

go, a lesson in types around the world##

    http://www.worldwideboxer.com/style.html

The US is totally different to ours and the European, a lighter frame, longer stop and they also like more white,

the European Boxer is my fav, they are to die for, you will find they are a little sturdy in frame, a with a smaller stop,

aww they look so comical. how did you find having two at the same time, as i know some people say never get two puppies from the same litter, as they never bond properly with you, but i quite like the idea of them having a friend

I was just looking at that, and looking at the dogs and reading the info with them (I prefer the Northan American body type :)) Although I wanted to ask, on the European body type I noticed that it said this,

What does that actually mean, as I know it of one way, and I don't think that would be what this means :)

it means "facing off" they show the Boxer a little different in some European Countries, they set the dog up facing each other, on on a long lead, this gives the dogs a much more alert look, will see if I can find pics....do a search for "Attibox" you may see some pics of what I mean

    Go to Belire boxers

    http://www.belire.co.uk/

Click on the "video" link at the top, then click it again to show you some video of "Dutch" boxer page, some fabulous Boxers on show , being set up !! stunning dogs, and you will be able to see who they differ from the UK BOXER.

p.s the American Boxer, is my least favorite, they always remind me of a Great Dane gone wrong!!

Ok then thanks for the link its intresting :D I watched the video but have no sound, but the dogs were gorgeous :) they do differer a lot though don't they, its always intresting to see how each breed can differ in each country.

Lol at me picking your least fav though, although that had me wondering, if you lived in America and grew up with them Boxers do you think that you would be so involved today as you are growing up seeing the boxers that you have? Actually scratch that, that seems a bit rude, sorry.

Yes probably would be, interestingly enough many US Boxer owners think the European/ UK Boxer is far better example than the North American one....

No, as with all things we think "ours" is the best, the USA Boxer has its dedicated followers, just like here and on the Continent and would not dream of changing or introducing another type, but then there will be some who do, and will import to combine the best of both.

Interesting though we dont see many US imports here today, (have done in the past) but most of our imports will be from the Continent.
