I have a bad feeling about introducing a new dog to a reactive dog who is picky about the dogs they meet :<

Untill you work on your dogs current problems adding a new dog could be very upsetting for Kismet.

Im sure you have thought about that

Did I read correctly that you may want to adopt? Are you sure thats wise with a reactive dog? Rescueing is great but you just don't know the history of the dog especially if its a husky type you could end up with another reactive dog are you sure you can cope with that? I think I remember reading somewhere that it took you a long time to bond with Kismet, I think you need to be realistic about these things.

On the other hand it could be the best dog you ever get and Kismet may love it.

Never seen a buhund pull..they can bark though!
My bu only weighs 13kg and is cocker size so as mm says they are not very big! Would luuuurve to see another on the forum though! ;)

    Samoyed?
    Bernese? (too slow?)

    Not sure if these can pull either;
    GSD
    Boxer
    Belgian shepherd
    Entlebuher
    Eurasier/laphund
    Karelian bear dog
    Kuvasz
    Elkhound (bigger than a bu)
    Tibetan mastif

Can you tell I had a bit much fun on a-z breed lists!?

    What about a GSP?

I have seen a few of these videos on youtube, might have a go myself once my Ollie is old enough. ;-)

Just a thought but ... Kismet might like being an 'only child' very much! Maybe wait and see.

Though I admire you thinking about 'suitable' breeds well in advance.

I waited 2 years and gave it a LOT of thought before leaping into getting another dog after my beloved Cavvy died. I always swore I would never have another breed of dog as I love them so much.

But the truth of the matter was that it was definitely NOT the best breed for where I live now, nor for my current lifestyle. I needed a more 'independent' dog, not so needy and clingy and one that could be left alone for a few hours at a time or boarded happily and with no inherent health problems this time (I've got a good vet now but they are like hens teeth in Cyprus).

Oh, and I know my dog would LOVE another dog to play all day with but the sheer cost of the double boarding fees and double airfares etc. is prohibitive, but more than that - not allowed to own more than one well behaved pet in apartments here. Also it really helps to have a 'cute' dog living in a country where most of the population just do not like dogs.

Quite a few sibe/gsd mixes seem to do well at canicross & bikejorring. Our big lad (Ute so sort of that mix lol) pulls like a train & can go for miles :)
Focusing more on canicross now we're considering a Collie as our next addition though. Two mad Ute's are enough for us!

I know Im biased but for stamina and pulling and enjoying a good old fashioned wrestle (the rougher the better) why not a Dobe? My boy is unbelieveably strong in harness at canix and goes forever (shame I dont!) and he loves it (he thought his brief brush with bikejor was mega unfortunately I aint that brave!)
