Not sure how the RSPCA caught him (trap catch pole or drugged meat) but he's now safe. Nearly 30 years ago I looked after my brothers 2 cats, I told him to bring them over to my home, has there was no way I was travelling to Derby every day from Newheaven (Newheaven between Ashbourne & Buxton A515) it was lot easier having them in my home, they were in the dogs pen during the day & in spare bedroom over night. I think the owners of Dexter should of asked their son to take dog with him & return him when they got back off holiday, rather then keep going over each day to see to Dexter.
The son doesn't sound very reliable..I'm sure the parents won't be very happy.the poor dog could of got run over or something.glad he's safe now
I think the both the owners and the son are equally to blame. How could they leave the poor dog to spend the greater part of every day on its own. If the son is as careless as he sounds, Dexter would probably have escaped from his house too.
