Ok. sw - is the gene for wolf sable. This is the colour pattern that's most common in Siberians and Malamutes and occurs in the GSD too (the three breeds that supposedly make up Inuits). It's a type of grey colour with banded hair with a distinctive pattern. This is known as wild type as it's the orginal wolf colour.

Sw - is the gene for white. It's a recessive so has to occur in double dose (Sw Sw) to be expressed. It gives an all over white colour by removing the pigment cells so it is in fact, absence of colour. It does often, as in the case of Sapphire, leave some patches of colour, most often on the head.

T - this is the gene for ticking. Many dogs/breeds (Dalmatian, ACD, English Setter etc) carry this but you don't neccessarily see its effect because you need to have a white background to view it. Where the coat is white, as in Sahhpire's case, T 'makes holes' in the white to allow the underlying colour to show through. The pups are born white and the effects of this ticking starts to show at a couple of weeks old. You can see this very clearly on Kali's face.

Her underlying colour would be darkish on the back, getting paler on head and down legs. It is typical for the coat to get paler as they age and this is why her black spot is disappearing. You don't see much of the ticking on her legs and head (except for the ears and surrounding area which is patched) because the underlying colour is pale here and indistinguishable from the white. I would expect her back to get paler too and probably vary between dark and light a bit as she moults.

Then you'd like Merlin, Kali's brother: he has "googly eyes" - one is brown with a big blue splodge, the other is blue with a big brown splodge. When he was little, he looked as if he had been put together from leftover bits and pieces; now, he's a nicely-proportioned 13 yo doggie, with googly eyes!
