Were these Chinese harnesses available in black, brown and cerise? I saw one that sounded like these listed on Amazon, and did wonder whether they might be suitable for Tikki. It read as if they were intended for S, M & L Chihuahuas. The advert definitely said leather, so Tina is probably right in her guess of suede. Should be comfortable, I hope you have finally found something that will do the job.

They had them in black, red, and pink. Only the pink is cerise which is fine as Tikva is not a pink girlie. So I bought in black and what they called pink. I probably bought it direct from AliExpress in China although eBay have the same or similar - but they also come from China! I cannot get a picture but this is it

If that comes up in French I have no idea why! Normally when I call up AliExpress it comes in English and because I have an account I get the prices in both US dollars and Israeli shekalim. And as I say, it is postage free. The harness is also not as wide as it looks in that picture but it is ideal for Tikva. And it is soft and lightweight and, hopefully what she needs.
It seems well made - I hope I have not jinxed it - and if they do last I will buy another couple in the XL size, because even though their descriptions and measurements should have given some leeway for Tikki, the L just fits on the last holes on both buckles. She seems comfortable enough and the harness she is wearing [the cerise one] looks and feels OK on her. But she may grow a bit more although at gone 15½ months old and 6kg I think she is fully grown now.

It just buckles across/round her neck and also round her chest. If she does rush around and/or pull on the end of her tether, her weight is taken across her chest, not on her throat. Nothing to rub, not as blingy as the one she was wearing before although the same style, so I guess I will have to wait and see. But thankfully none of those horrid plastic clips which I loathe and detest. Just two buckles. And chombled knuckles when I tried to get it on her!

That little wotsit has an evil sense of humour but she knows not to hurt me.

Saw this and thought about your problem with Tikki - putting her harness on etc

    http://ruffshop.co.uk/product/sticky-bone/

You put cream cheese or similar in the middle of the bone part and can stuff treats in the end bits too. It can stick to any smooth surface and the video (on facebook so I know it won't let me link to it) shows the dog licking and biting at the bone while it is attached to the side of a cupboard at head height so the dog will allow grooming/ collar being put on etc. With a bit on ingenuity, I thought something along these lines would help you with putting on Tikki's harness or clipping on her tether

That looks very interesting Chris - I am not sure what Tikva would think of it though! Actually as she wears her harness all the time, day and night, it is only a matter of changing to a clean one when the one she is wearing needs washing, and she knows that I will get her on the couch and sit on her to put the clean one on and do it up!

OK, so I get chombled knuckles but she does not hurt me although she could if she really wanted to.

More interesting things. The blue harness as in my message #8 which was blanking blanking, I was offered a 50% refund and to keep it and donate it. The second one in that message has not yet arrived. And to make sure I can still get them if necessary, I ordered the new ones in XL [do not forget these are for Chihuahuas so even XL is not that big], and because I said I did not want the matching leashes the lovely seller has let me buy them at half price, plus she is sending a present for Tikki. Hopefully no more toothbrushes as Tikva has the whitest teeth ever, being raw fed.

AliExpress is very good for certain things, many of which are postage free. But they do have a reputation of copying fashion clothes which never turn out as their picture shows. Not that I buy clothes from them but I have bought some nikkies which were perfect. And the toys I have bought for Tikki are very good value as well. The only problem is that it can take so long for things to arrive. It also worries me how cheap some things are - what are the workers paid?
