Ela was from a litter of 6, 4 girls and 2 boys. Her auntie has just had a litter of 8, 5 boys and 3 girls.
you could aslo gain height by only mating tall dogs{NI's} to tall dogs, after a few generations you would gain a fair bit of height, I guess it depends on how far back you can trace the breeding, then look at the dogs used and there stats to see if they were on the taller side, I would say though if all the litter brothers and sisters are shorter, then yes its a throw back to something tall used in the breeding a while ago
Malamute / Husky crosses are regularly way bigger than Malamutes so I don't think his size necessarily means anything else is in there - I don't understand why the Husky X Mals get so much bigger than Mals ..... but they do tend to ....
That's interesting - it's odd isn't it. My boy isn't bigger width wise - he is more narrow but he is tall and quite a few people ask where he gets his height from when I tell them what went into making NI's.
Kismet is definitely taller than either the Husky or Mal for her age. Her mum was somewhere in between the two and her dad was a bit bigger... There is an absolutely huge Malamute that walks around here though. I'll try and get a picture of him. So I think huge is certainly a possibility in the Mal.
