Yes, that did happen - and it was one of the ways that one of our regulars was able to expose that that member as a troll. It is a breach of copyright though, I believe on both sides of the Atlantic. I would be appalled if I found that a photo of one of my dogs had been copied for use on a pet sales website.

I remember it, and yes it was wrong, but there is a big difference in using a pic, than falsely advertising a litter. The age of the pups, phone number and area are all on the advert, there is no question that it is genuine.
