My niece phoned me last night asking can I house sit for her, as she's expecting a parcel & this is the second time they are going to deliver parcel, yep I house sit so there I am 8am sitting on stairs facing front door, ready for delivery man to knock on door, 3 hours later getting bored sitting watching door, my niece phones yelling at me because had received a text from YODEL to say they couldn't make the delivery as no one was at home ? WAIT I been sat on stairs for 3 hours waiting for someone to knock on door, I told her that NO ONE had knock on door or pushed card through letter box & I would phone up YODEL. Phone call went like this. Me - can I speak to the delivery driver that tried to deliver parcel to ...... (give the address) YODEL that address does not match any delivery on our drivers sheets Me really well one of your drivers said he tried to deliver parcel today & said no one was home, only I was in all morning YODEL I see have you the delivery van number on card Me I don't have a card at all, you sent a text to say there was no one at home, but I was sitting facing the door YODEL would you like to make arrangements for parcel to be delivered tomorrow Me No I like driver to come back today & deliver parcel YODEL afraid that can't happen Me why not YODEL well there's no record of your parcel being on any of our vans today Me well where is the parcel YODEL are you sure your expecting a parcel Me yes one of your delivery drivers shoved a sorry I miss you card through letter box on Monday YODEL oh that's why its not on any of our delivery drivers sheets today Me pardon not understanding you YODEL well delivery was rearranged for Thursday Me today is Thursday YODEL no its only Wednesday Me no that was yesterday today is Thursday YODEL what please don't make a complaint I will lose my job Me what about the parcel YODEL I call the delivery driver back & give him the parcel you should receive parcel by 5pm Me thank you YODEL would you mind taking part in a survey to see how well we are doing Me - I just put phone down The parcel arrive at 2pm & it was very heavy. Still don't know who sent niece text or even why message was sent when the parcel was still at depot & not on the van.
Doesn't it make you want to scream! I'm sure life is getting more and more stressful, but we'll done you for showing such mettle. I hope sharing it has allowed you to let off a bit of ssssssteam.
I just don't believe these delivery companies & Royal mail, they can't give you a delivery time (unless you pay a premium fee) its always 7am to 9pm ie 7am to 12pm, 12pm to 4pm & 4pm to 9pm, then when you wait in for them they don't even show up or even worst put a sorry I miss you card through letterbox, (have had lots of these cards from Royal mail even when someone has been in house) I just couldn't believe what I was hearing from YODEL when I phoned them, it took me lots of self control not to yell at the idiot on the phone, then at the end they wanted me to mark them on how well they were doing, I think from now on I will only order stuff that can be collected from local Argos, at least that way no one as to stay in all day.
