Well that is what I call them as they walk round with huge bags of things calling out "blankets etc" - I have never been sure what else they call out. They used to come round regularly but over the past few years we have rarely seen them, in fact the last time I remember was when one delivered the carpet I had asked if he could get for me, and that was around June 2013. I had bought a double duvet from him a couple of weeks earlier and asked if he could get a carpet for me. There is no date on the photographs I took of it as I had not set my then new camera, but the folder is dated 6 June 2013. I had asked him for brown and this is what he brought, which I absolutely adore: Anyhow, yesterday two of them were walking round so I plonked outside to see what they had, and treated myself to an absolutely gorgeous bed set - double duvet cover, bottom sheet, and two pillow cases, plus what I thought were white Tshirts. The usual - they state a price, you offer half, and it is normally accepted. So I ended up with the bed set and six white Tshirts for a total of ~£32.50 only they were not Tshirts but long-sleeved brushed cotton [brushed on the inside] mens' winter vests! I am actually rather pleased although I could have done with them at the beginning of the winter, but they will be ideal for now under long tunics without having to wear three layers as I have been doing. All in all it was a very successful purchase!
Lovely mat/rug/carpet we call people like that knockers but the stuff they sell is cheap tack (dishclothes, t-towels, dusters) plus they usually have cheaply made cards claiming to be deaf & dumb. I caught one of the knockers out last year by sign language, he said "% $#@×£¥ you when he realized I signed "smile for the camera" (I have cctv above my door) he used even more &^£€%÷#$! Language when my lodger pulled up behind him & arrested the knocker.
These are not "knockers" Tina and what they sell is bdooly good and extremely good value - they just need bargaining down! They are licenced to sell plus this being a semi-private Moshav they have to have another licence in order to come onto the Moshav. I have bought many things from them - not always the same people but still - and have yet to be disappointed in anything. As for that carpet - it is not full room size but then nobody has full room-size carpets here. Nice guys, all of them, and it was so nice to see them coming round again.
