    Worst parts of a GSD?

I have a few threads flying about the forum just now on various dogs as I am undecided which large breed I want lol, and GSD's have allllways been high up my list, so was wondering what the WORST GSD traits are?
That way I can work out if I can deal with those, the good points are then just a bonus :D

All of the above LOL and the fact they are a very reactive breed. They need much more in the way of positive socialisation when they are young than other less reactive breeds. Get it right and you have the most wonderful dog you can imagine, get it wrong and you can have lots of hard work ahead of you.

The worst thing about a GSD is his overwhelming need to be with you and share your life.

    It`s a very close partnership with a Sheppie. :002:

dog hair, its a wonder mine has any left.
Occasionally i still meet people that will avoid me completely ie. cross the road simply because shes a gsd. (depending how you look at this, that can be a positive too :) )

The repertoire of vocalisations, including a great impersonation of a Wookie.

    Incredible moulting.

    Gobby

Get on great with other animals as a rule, if of course you have done your work properly.

Can "overbond" if you are not careful which can make them incompetent without you.

The only thing my GSD destroyed was his beds intermittently; so far the Tuffie has lasted 2 years!

In 30yrs I have only had 1 destructive as a pup, thats my current one Zandi and he only did it if I was on a sleepover at work despite other people and dogs in the house.

Re Dogs its individual, part bloodlines, part socialisation current one is every dogs best friend unless it is a street dog (one allowed to roam at will)

Mine seems to love all other dogs. We didnt have her as a pup, but shes never done anything destructive if shes been left inside. Shes very careful to mop up all her gravy bone crumbs! Less messy than the boyfriend!

all of the above  ty used to whine non stop whenever i was on the phone because i dared to speak to someone else and not him  he grew out of this though (either that or the fact i ignored him, he doesn't do it now)

and you have met xeva ( her reactivity is my biggest challenge with her, but we have good days and bad days)

however there are far more positives to owning a gsd than negitives :D just depends on the work you put in x

we are getting there slowly  like i said good days and bad days ( like saturday complete nightmare, threw temper tantrums, and eventually when she settled she was let off lead, i can call her off anything with a LEAVE which is the positive in this :D, then sunday just a few barks great untill she got to puppy class but compared to saturday a complete angel :D)

    I've had 5 & only my 1st was destructive..but she was a rescue & very insecure at 1st.
My present boy is the only vocal one...& only when we're on our way out, or he feels ignored.
I've had one with nervous aggression (the 1st one) & one very nervous one...which on paper was the best bred.

GSD's dont have a worst part...all the things that are the 'worst' parts are part of the reasons I love them!

    - vocal, and have the ability to make it sound like they are being painfully tortured at times.
    - their need to be with you, to check you are not going to run out the back door and leave forever if you go into the kitchen
    - my bitch barks every time i answer the phone, thinking it is someone at the door! (thats an individual thing tho i would think!)
