One of my biggest pet peeves is when people refer to a group of breeds as Pit Bulls. I personally believe that only one breed should be referred to as a Pit Bull, that breed being the American PIT BULL Terrier. The American Pit Bull Terrier is the only breed with the term "Pit Bull" in its breed title. The same as you do not not call a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, a Flat-coated Retriever or call a Golden Retriever a Labrador. They are all retrievers, but not all Labradors. We won't call a Cocker Spaniel, a Clumber Spaniel or a Field Spaniel a Springer. Yes they are all Spaniels but not all Springers. American Pit BULL Terriers, Staffordshire BULL Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, American BULLY, BULLdogs, and American BULLdogs are all bull breeds, but they are not all Pit Bulls. A Pit Bull is an American Pit Bull Terrier, just as a the term Labrador is a Labrador and not any other Retriever breed.
This has been getting on my nerves a bit lately as its brought up every week on dog rescuers. Then they never tell you the fate of the dog after they have taken it.
The thing is the so called "Dog Rescuers" don't know one breed of dog from another, every Staffy they see is labeled "of pit bull type" every large dog is labeled "mastiff type dog" plus the "women" wardens just like to scream & shout, I do think they do this because the camera's are with them & they know the dog will react badly (snarl bark snap) making out these breeds of dogs are dangerous.
I dont think were talking about same show. Its about rspca officers and i havnt seen anybody shout. The pit type dogs that get talked about have been talked about in a posative way and all seamed quite nice. The past 2 shows the "pit" have been left alone with other dogs and had mega fights were happy and frinedly with the officers and vets and they did talk about them in a posative way compared to some shows ive watched
No the programme I watched shown 2 female dog wardens screaming & shouting at the dog why trying to get a catch pole round a the dogs neck.
If it's the same one I saw (with dog wardens), I thought it was terrible too - that woman shouldn't be doing that job, she was terrible!
no this is on channel 5 and it follows rspca around. other than seeing the dogs and the state they are in its a great show and does show the rspca officers in a good light. I still dont like rspca head office but thats another matter
