Who is going to tell her?

Tikva's vet Michal, who she adored and who adored Tikki, has left the surgery. :090:

I spoke with Ram yesterday and he said not to worry because he will come here for Tikki's shots and stuff, but she will go bananas as she loved seeing Michal, who always played with her, and the only time she has ever seen Ram was when Michal took us to the surgery for Tikki to be spayed, and then she brought her home a few hours later. So she does not know him.

And how am I going to explain to Ram that he will have to go through the bungalow, through my bedroom  into the ensuite to weigh himself holding the little booga, then put her down to weigh himself, to get the accurate weight for her for that three-monthly Park Worm shot?

I thought I was almost free of frequent vet visits when my beloved Pereg had to leave me. I never classed Michal that way because Tikva loved her visiting and playing with her, and it was so much easier when Michal came her and not me having to get a taxi to and from the surgery.

Oh, that is a pity, you do feel bereft when your favourite vet, or doctor, moves on, especially if you have had no warning. Do you think Ram will replace her? You do have faith in him though, and Tikva will soon welcome him too.
There are six vets in 'our' practice, most of whom have specialisms - which is good - but there is one whose judgement I would trust for anything at all. She is a partner so I think I'm safe!

@CaroleC - Ram is fine - he was wonderful with Pereg but it is just that Tikva does not know him and somehow I cannot see him playing with her as she did with Michal. Of course I trust him but I always managed to get Pereg to the surgery and Michal always came here for Tikva.

I wouldn't worry to much about Tikva she will love him as soon as he steps inside your home, just tell him to bring a killing toy or biscuit with him so Tikva will know he's friendly [even if he's going to stick a needle in her neck] will Ram be getting a replacement assistant vet to help out at the surgery

Tina, Tikva will not need a toy or biscuit - she just needs to know "friend" but she will definitely miss Michal although I know she has gone onto one of the few major vet hospitals here.

Tikki will just have to get used to Ram coming here, as I honestly cannot take her to the surgery every three months.

He does have a newly qualified vet at the surgery but I have not met her - just spoken on the phone. And having know Ram for such a long time now, Tikva will have to get used to him sticking needles and shoving worm pills down her throat.

I am just so grateful that I have a vet who will come out.

It truly was a God send to have a vet come to the house when my old lad Sam needed medical help. His arthritis meant he couldn't get into the car and we'd have struggled to get him in and out.

I'm sure Tiki will get on fine with Ram.

Well I will soon find out in a couple of hours as Ram will be coming to give Tikva her yearly booster [and clip her front claws]. No Parkworm shot today - that is due at the end of next month, and I must remember to ask him to bring a Drontal worm pill when he comes at the end of December for the following Parkworm shot. Now she is over a year old she only needs the worm pill every six months, but it is every three months for the Parkworm shot, and it is too risky not to have her covered against it.

Her rabies shot will be due in about four weeks but Vadim never charges for it - he calls in when he is on the Moshav to check the cows/chickens etc and I never know when he will turn up. He just appears, grabs whichever one was due, and gives the shot before they knew it!

Success - after an initial panic. Ram had parked on the pavement at the end of my ramp because he had left the engine running for the a/c as his dog was in his car, and when Tikva heard it she rushed out barking - only to be greeted by a rather tall and solid strange man in scrubs walking down the ramp. At which point she flew in and as he came through the door she took a flying leap over the gate which I have across the doorway from the salon to stop her from going into the rest of the bungalow when I do not want her underfoot. Or insisting on coming into the loo with me!

Unhooked gate but would she come in? I tried to bribe her with her little "sweeties" and "bikkies" but in the end had to pull her in, sat on the couch and hoiked her onto my lap. So she had her booster, had her front claws trimmed, ears and toes checked for ticks, teeth admired, and was given a clean bill of health.

Ram said she was slim but not thin, just as he likes a dog to be, and has rock solid muscles. He also said she was cute! :D
