White NI's General Chat

Anyone got some pics of white NI's? I love the white dogs and would love to see some more piccys. The ever lovely Lola is a stunning example of this.

Always had a soft spot for the white colouring, our huskies litter mate was white so i have always been a fan.

Are the whites desirable as they do just look like a white GSD?
Or is it a breed fault?
Its seems like a genetic throwback to the white GSD to me!!

theres some lovely white about,ive got a lovely white bitch called pagen with lovely yellow eyes,im also very proud of claudeens two otto and lola,lisa in wales has a lovely white bitch called sky[sister to lola,and of course theres that lovely litter tracey has at the minute of three white pups.

Well to me they look like white NI's which is what they are. I haven't seen many GSDs with a double coat.

Or are you saying any large white dog looks like a white GSD?

So is a white NI desirable or a breed fault thats all I am asking?
And IMO yes they do look like a white GSD

lola is not beeing bred to otto,theres three dogs in mind to put her to,but which ever she goes to out of the three,im sure shes going to produce stunning babies

no whites are not a breed fault,and most white northern inuits look like white northern inuits.

As far as i'm aware being white is not a breed fault. How can you say that dogs like Lola look anything like a GSD? I looked into getting a white GSD before i found NI's as i have been a fan for many years. The have a different structure to a GSD the only thing in common is the colour. A standard NI looks nothing like a standard GSD, being white doesn't change breed standard.

So you would breed a white male and bitch to get show standard and perfect example of NI?
Where they once undesirable?

Being an owner of a Husky (all be it she lives at the family home) i disagree. The ears are longer and the nose longer, a husky is also smaller and more compact along the back.

At first glance many dogs look like other breeds thats why ou have to pay a bit more attention. Mal owners everywhere can testify to that

Again to my knowledge they were never undesirable they where just one of the types of coat colour. The NI is a wolfy looking dog and there are pleanty of white wolves out there.

i have a white bitch,eighteen months old,she will be going to have her hips scored within the next month and if the results are good, iwill possibly be looking at putting her in pup just after shes two,but will put her to a coloured not a white.

All GSDs have double coats, or did you mean white GSDs, if you did then they are normally double coated but not white, not up on the genes that produce the different sorts of white but most the 'white' GSDs I have seen are cream or biscuit not true white.

True white as seen in the Boxer, Dalmatian, Staffie is, I believe, from another sort of gene combination to that found in the ‘white’ GSD and that is the one that can cause deafness.

There is another type that is in fact albino and that is accompanied by blue or almost pink eyes and then there is the white coat found in Sammies and Japanese Spitz which as far as I know holds no health problems that are related to the genes that produce the white coat.

ive never seen spike in the flesh,but going on that picture sally he looks nice,nothing like a husky.

we can have cream and apricot in northern inuits,but also pure white,my pagen is pure white
