My whippet has become very anxious when flies get in the house. He heads to his bed & shivers with his tail between his legs. He is normally very vocal. Any suggestions please
Had he perhaps been stung by a bee or any flying insect before this anxiety started, so is now frightened it might happen again?
How old is he? Is it a recent thing? Is he nervous in other contexts? Has he had any recent illnesses?
Possibly going outside is his way of solving his problem with flies. I must say I am none too keen on them either, although my little Tikva thinks that all small flying or crawling things are fair game - and food! You say your boy had abandonment issues before you rescued him, how is he if you have to leave him?
He was left all day & chewed everything. Also peed & pooped all over the place. He has been great since we got him, I have never left him alone, he panics when I leave the room. This has only started since the weather is warmer & my windows open
He is around 20 months old. He seems to have settled apart from not being able to be left alone. This only started when weather became warmer & flies getting into house
Firstly, how long has your boy been with you, and secondly has he always panicked when you left the room or has that only started, like his fear of flies, since the weather became warmer and flies could get in? Thirdly, what is his name and may we please have some pictures of him?!
Did you have him last summer? If so, was he the same then? I'm guessing you didn't. Do you do any training with him? If so, can you get his attention by doing some training with him, or, if not, is there a favourite game you could get him involved in when there is a fly in the house?
