We are planning to get a short coat chihuahua next year to add to our little family - we have a female retriever cross collie and a male yorkshire terrier (Mollie and Duncan). We used to have a long coat chihuahua (Rosie) a few years ago so have experience of tinies. She had a few health problems (nothing that affected her life) like undershot jaw and a floppy ear. But as we just want a pet and have no interest in showing or breeding we don't mind things like that. Anyway reason I am posting is to enquire if there are any health checks we should be asking about as it has been years since we had a puppy and health testing has, I think moved on since we did.
Can't see any required health tests on the KC list of recommended health tests, might be worth contacting a breed club if no-one on here with experience of this breed can advise, here's the KC breed standard with a few contacts: KC Breed Standard for Chihuaha Good luck, hope you find a good breeder!
