    What Breed Do I Have?

Hello everyone. I am new to the site and am not 100% sure this is the right place to put this thread.

    But ...

We just got a new puppy (8 months old) and we're trying to figure out what mix of breeds that he is. We're wondering if we could get some input from the people here to help us figure it out.

Parker is a bit over 8 months old. He weighs 20 lbs and is a touch on the lean side (as opposed to being barrel chested). He has blond fur that is a touch wiry but very soft fur on his ears. What's interesting is that his skin (under the fur) is dark.

We are almost positive that he has Lab in him. He was listed at the shelter as a lab mix and at 8 months he can already fetch anything we throw.

He's very energetic (puppy in action) and more submissive than aggressive (not an alpha dog) in nature. In fact, while he's curious about our cats he is still very scared of them (gives them a wide berth).

He's just about full grown and don't imagine him getting over about 25 lbs. His tail curls in the middle and his ears go back when he is stressed. He squats to urinate (not a leg lifter).

Here are a couple of pictures of him.

I think that there might be some Corgi in there and my wife thinks it might be a little Chihuahua.

Thank you all in advance for any help you can give us.

EDIT: Thanks to the moderators for putting this in the right place.

Lab x Border Terrier x something else, perhaps? :)

I think you can get a DNA test done too nowadays - they're supposed to tell you which breeds your dog consists of... no idea how accurate they are :/

The only Lab I can see in him is the colour.

Corgi I think is pretty unlikely given how uncommon they are.

He just looks like a typical terrier cross if you ask me. Jack Russell crossed with several other breeds maybe. I don't think he is a straight cross breed, rather a mix of many breeds.

He is very small (9kgs) so I wouldn't imagine lab is a main component as they are around 3 times as big. And as labradork said he doesn't really resemble a lab apart from the colour and floppy ears.

In the last pic I kind of see Chihuahua, and a wiry coat suggests perhaps there is a terrier influence as do the ears.

Over all - no suggestions I'm afraid, looks like quite a mix of breeds :) He is lovely though!

Corgi's are pretty common round these parts ... but I am in Texas.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I may just break down and pay to do one of those DNA tests for pets.

I don't think any of those DNA tests have a reputation for being accurate.

On a forum I used to be on, a members obvious Lab mix came back as a Bichon Frise cross according to the results of a DNA test.

    I wouldn't waste my money. :)

Well I may skip the DNA testing then. We just wanted to find out so we could better train and take care of him.

He's a great little guy and we are really happy to have found him.

Poor guy had a rough first few months with his previous owners. Now we will spoil the heck out of him.
