    Warning To Stud Dog Owners

Have had a series of very strange texts this afternoon.
First one said did I have any puppies left, thought this strange as they are not born yet, so tried to ring but no answer, so text to say had tried but no answer. Then I got a text back to say they were at a show, I text and said let me know when you are free then. Then i got a text saying I obviously had the mum did I have a piccie of the father, now alarm bells started ringing, so I googled the number they were coming from, there is a thread about the exact same number and same type of conversation on a gun dog forum, plus people coming on to say they had experienced this themselves. It gets even murkier, someone then put up an adv for a lost husky in Livingstone, ring any bells anyone, wasn't there a thread on here about a husky cross being found and this adv was mentioned but they were told the dog had returned home, apparently it is the same telephone number on the adv as is doing these texts and they are allegedly called 'Emma' so someone is going round trying to get piccies of stud dogs, for what end I have no idea. The telephone number the texts come from is 07538 005812 so please be careful if you get a text from this person

On the gundog forum it says that she has used the piccie of a dog belonging to someone else and they were totally unaware of this until all of it cropped up, gradually people comparing notes, so she is doing it all over from Cornwall upwards and is not confined to any particular area. I challenged her as to where she got my number and she said a friend, apparently she never answers her phone it is all texts and she says she is at a show and things like that, which is what she said to me, almost word for word

It must be a scam of some kind but I can't think how they are doing it.

If you google the number you will find the thread on the gundog training forum, it gives it chapter and verse, I'm not sure about the ins and outs of copy/pasting what it says onto here because it may be their copyright or something. It is totally bizarre and no specific breed, all the posts are from over the last couple of days as well so has just started, she might be a nutter but like you say may be some sort of scam. There was no way I was sending a piccie of the father over to her that's for sure!!!! He's not my dog for a start and I couldn't live with myself if I was responsible for something happening to him because I was stupid.

Maybe she is using the pictures to fill a web site selling stud services. When bitch shows up the dog used is different or money in advance for services not provided

One of the first things you do when looking at a stud is swop health results, you send them yours and they send you theirs, on these is (usually) the microchip number, so you wouldn't have those if you didn't have the dog advertised, well I hope not anyway:grin:

Some people don't worry about health tests and some breeds don't have them.

I was just trying to see how it could be a scam with just asking for pictures.
I have know people to post pictures of dogs that did not belong to them on their web site. The purpose ws to give more crditability to them being a kennel of good dogs.

One sick individual posted pictures of dogs with a big sob story of how they had died and they were so sad. When the dog was well and alive living with it real owners. This made people feel sorry for them and [eople helped them because they felt sorry.

Who knows what goes through some peoples minds

What a weird thing:? I tend to think 'Leadstaffs' maybe on to a possible reason. Possibly a 'puppy farm' are advertising litters and wanting to show photos of the stud dog etc to whatever litter they are selling to make the puppies all sound fab. So them having a photo library of good stud dogs would be an advantage to them. Some sort of scam anyway!
